DegreeSight is an education technology company based in Round Rock, Texas, focused on streamlining and optimizing the transfer credit evaluation process for colleges and universities. Its main mission is to simplify credit transfer for students and make the process a powerful asset for institutional enrollment growth and student retention. DegreeSight leverages AI and automation to match, evaluate, and audit transfer credits at scale, giving prospective students instant clarity on transfer eligibility and empowering institutions to answer the question “Will my credits transfer?” quickly and accurately.
DegreeSight was founded in 2015 by David Cook and Drew Melendres, both of whom bring extensive personal experience and institutional expertise in addressing the challenges of transfer credit confusion and inefficiency. Their first-hand frustrations—particularly the high cost of unclear advising—led them to develop solutions that target student success and institutional lead generation. Since its founding, DegreeSight has established partnerships with forward-thinking universities and grown to 11-50 employees.
As of April 2025, DegreeSight has raised approximately $3.78 million in external funding, with its last funding round of $3.5 million occurring two years prior. The company is privately held and has not disclosed a public valuation, but its funding and product adoption underline a solid presence in the EdTech and higher education SaaS market.
DegreeSight’s flagship cloud platform uses AI and automation to centralize and streamline the entire transfer credit evaluation workflow. Features include:
The INBOUND ecosystem (AI-driven learning system)
Automated transcript parsing and credit matching
Student-facing self-service tools
Deep integrations with campus systems (like Slate, Salesforce, Banner, and DegreeWorks)
Support for rapid setup (new clients can be operational in under a month)
Real-time analytics and reporting
Extensive training, onboarding, and expert support resources (including “Success Specialists” and secret shopper evaluations)
Recent enhancements have focused on speeding up credit matching, expanding AI-powered evaluation, introducing branded self-service portals for prospective transfers, and improving data integration and migration tools. The company frequently collaborates with institutional partners to iterate new workflow features, data export options, and degree audit modules as the sector evolves.
DegreeSight’s founders emphasize a culture of transparency, student-centric design, and measurable institutional impact. DegreeSight exists to help institutions become “truly transfer-friendly” and foster student success through clarity, efficiency, and partnership. The leadership team draws on direct student and administrative experience, promoting innovation, responsiveness, and continuous improvement in higher education technology.
DegreeSight primarily serves US and Canadian colleges and universities, particularly those looking to boost transfer enrollment, reduce administrative processing times, and better serve non-traditional and transfer students. Its clients include a growing number of public and private universities with a strong focus on data-backed results—including rapid increases in transfer leads, improved enrollment yield, and reduced time-to-enrollment. Community engagement occurs through higher education conferences, client partnerships, and regular sharing of transfer enrollment best practices.
