Worksuite

Worksuite is an enterprise-grade Freelance Management System (FMS) designed to centralize and automate the entire lifecycle of managing an external workforce. Originally founded as Shortlist, the platform has evolved into a comprehensive solution that bridges the gap between procurement, legal, finance, and talent management. It enables organizations to recruit, onboard, manage, and pay freelancers and contractors through a single, streamlined interface. By providing a centralized directory of talent, Worksuite eliminates the fragmentation typically associated with using multiple spreadsheets, emails, and disparate payment tools. The platform's core architecture is built around four primary pillars: Talent Onboarding, Project Management, Global Payments, and Compliance. Organizations can create custom onboarding workflows that automate the collection of tax forms (W-9, W-8BEN), signed contracts, and background checks. This ensures that every contractor is fully compliant before they begin work. For procurement teams, Worksuite offers unprecedented visibility into contractor spend, engagement patterns, and resource allocation, allowing for better strategic planning and cost control across the enterprise.

Worksuite differentiates itself from traditional Vendor Management Systems (VMS) and generic project management tools by focusing specifically on the unique needs of the freelance economy. Unlike legacy VMS platforms that can be rigid and difficult for talent to use, Worksuite offers a modern, consumer-grade user experience that freelancers actually enjoy, which improves talent retention and engagement. A key competitive edge is its 'Compliance-First' approach; while competitors might offer payment or project tracking, Worksuite integrates automated tax form collection and identity verification directly into the onboarding flow, making compliance a prerequisite for engagement rather than an afterthought. Furthermore, the platform's global reach is superior to many domestic-only solutions. Through Worksuite Pay, the company handles the complexities of international banking and local tax regulations, allowing US-based companies to hire in Europe or Asia as easily as they do at home. Another significant advantage is its flexibility. Worksuite allows companies to build their own internal 'Private Talent Clouds'—essentially a private LinkedIn for their organization—where they can vet, tag, and organize talent based on skills, past performance, and internal ratings. This internal marketplace reduces reliance on expensive recruitment agencies and helps teams find proven talent faster. Finally, its ability to act as a system of record for procurement means that every dollar spent on freelancers is trackable, providing financial controllers with the granular data they need for audit trails and budgetary forecasting.
