Toad Data Point incorporates a suite of security measures to safeguard sensitive data during access, analysis, and sharing. These measures encompass encryption protocols, authentication mechanisms, secure data sharing practices, and rigorous software integrity controls.
Master Password Encryption: Users can set a master password to encrypt stored connection credentials, adding an extra layer of security to prevent unauthorized access to saved passwords.
FIPS-Compliant Cryptography: Toad Data Point employs cryptographic algorithms that conform to the Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS), ensuring robust protection for sensitive data both in transit and at rest.
Encrypted ZIP Archives: When automating tasks, users have the option to create password-protected and encrypted ZIP files, utilizing 128-bit or 256-bit encryption to secure exported data.
Authentication Keys in Toad Intelligence Central (TIC): TIC utilizes authentication keys to manage access to data objects:
Personal Authentication Keys: Require individual users to provide their own credentials for data access.
Shared (Public) Keys: Allow multiple users to access data objects using predefined credentials, facilitating collaborative work while maintaining security.
Role-Based Access Control: Administrators can define user roles and permissions within TIC, ensuring that users have appropriate access levels to data and functionalities.
Code Signing and Software Integrity: All Toad Data Point releases are digitally signed using Quest's code signing certificates. This process verifies the authenticity of the software and ensures that it has not been tampered with since signing.
Vulnerability and Penetration Testing: Quest conducts regular security assessments, including Static Application Security Testing (SAST), Dynamic Application Security Testing (DAST), and annual third-party penetration tests, to identify and remediate potential vulnerabilities.
Toad Data Point, developed by Quest Software, provides functionalities that support data ownership and portability, particularly when used in conjunction with Toad Intelligence Central (TIC). Here's an overview:
Local Storage: When you save data to your local storage in Toad Data Point, the data remains private and accessible only to you. This ensures full control over your datasets without external access.
Toad Intelligence Central (TIC): Publishing data to TIC allows for broader sharing within your organization. You can define sharing settings to keep data private, share with specific users or groups, or make it public within TIC. Users with "Manage" privileges can modify sharing options, refresh schedules, and other settings.
Static Datasets: When publishing data from sources like Excel or Access to TIC, the data is stored as a static snapshot. Changes in the original source files do not automatically reflect in TIC unless the dataset is refreshed.
Export Options: Toad Data Point supports exporting data in various formats, including Excel, CSV, and SQL scripts. This facilitates easy data transfer and integration with other tools or platforms.
Automation and Scheduling: You can automate data exports and schedule regular refreshes of datasets in TIC. This ensures that shared data remains up-to-date and reduces manual intervention.
Data Compare Projects: Toad Data Point allows saving and sharing of Data Compare projects (*.dcp files). These files can be shared with other users, provided they have the necessary connections defined, promoting collaborative data analysis.
