StackHawk
By StackHawk Inc
StackHawk is a cutting-edge security testing platform specifically designed for modern engineering teams to integrate API and web application security testing seamlessly into their development workflows. The platform emphasizes pre-production security testing, allowing developers to actively identify and address security vulnerabilities as part of their traditional software testing processes. By enabling teams to run security tests locally, review pull requests, and even break the build when necessary, StackHawk ensures that applications are secure before they are deployed, all without hindering the development process. The platform redefines dynamic application security testing (DAST) for teams that deploy software frequently. StackHawk empowers developers to take ownership of their security issues by surfacing vulnerabilities directly within their native development environments. This approach allows for quick identification, prioritization, and investigation of security bugs, effectively scaling application security (AppSec) initiatives. Additionally, the integration of DAST and static application security testing (SAST) results provides a comprehensive view of potential vulnerabilities, enabling teams to manage risks more effectively and collaborate on solutions within their existing workflows.
StackHawk differentiates itself from competitors through its developer-centric approach to application security testing, particularly in the realms of API and web application security. Unlike many traditional security tools that are often seen as burdensome or disconnected from the development process, StackHawk integrates seamlessly into existing CI/CD workflows, allowing developers to run security tests as part of their regular coding practices. This integration ensures that security vulnerabilities are identified and addressed early in the development cycle, significantly reducing the time and effort required to fix issues before they reach production. By empowering developers to take ownership of security, StackHawk fosters a culture where security is a shared responsibility rather than an afterthought.

Does StackHawk platform use AI? And where?
StackHawk platform utilizes AI in several areas to enhance its dynamic application security testing (DAST) capabilities. Here are the key areas where AI is integrated:
AI-Powered Discovery: StackHawk incorporates generative AI technology to assist in discovering security issues within code repositories, such as those hosted on GitHub. This AI-driven approach helps identify potential vulnerabilities more efficiently and accurately.
Vulnerability Descriptions: The platform uses AI to provide detailed and context-specific vulnerability descriptions. This helps developers understand the nature of the security issues and how to address them effectively.
Hack-a-Thon Innovations: StackHawk's R&D and Marketing teams have conducted AI-focused hack-a-thons to drive innovation in their practices. These initiatives aim to integrate AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) into everyday operations, enhancing the platform's capabilities and efficiency.
Security Implications of AI: StackHawk is mindful of the security implications of using AI, particularly in code generation. The platform emphasizes the importance of continuous testing to mitigate the risks associated with AI-generated code, which can inadvertently introduce vulnerabilities.
