By Payline Data Services
Payline Data, established in 2009, is a payment processing company headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. It provides a range of payment solutions, including in-person, online, and mobile processing, catering to small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) as well as enterprise clients. The company is recognized for its transparent pricing models, integration flexibility, and PCI DSS Level 1 compliance to ensure secure transactions.
The company has steadily expanded since its founding, emphasizing customer-centric payment processing solutions. In 2017, it was acquired by Pineapple Payments, enabling Payline to scale its offerings and tap into a broader customer base. This acquisition also brought operational shifts and streamlined service enhancements.
Payline operates as a subsidiary of Pineapple Payments, and specific funding rounds for Payline are not publicly detailed. The backing from Pineapple Payments supports Payline's innovations and market penetration, though the broader financial figures remain undisclosed.
Payline provides:
Interchange-plus pricing for cost transparency.
Mobile payment options with Clover Go and Ingenico terminals.
Specialized pricing for industries like healthcare.
Payline Capital for business loans in partnership with Lendio.
Security features, such as tokenization and payer authentication tools, to protect sensitive cardholder information
Additional features include:
Integration with most Point-of-Sale (POS) systems.
The acquisition by Pineapple Payments broadened Payline’s offerings and facilitated service innovations. While Payline focuses on SMBs and enterprises, Pineapple Payments contributes enhanced capabilities for integrating newer features and partnerships.
Recent updates include streamlined pricing models and integrations aimed at improving user experience. Enhanced security protocols and hardware offerings (like Clover Go for mobile payments) have been central to keeping the platform relevant in a competitive industry.
Payline is known for its customer-first approach and commitment to transparency. Despite its size, the company maintains a focus on personalized support, although some customers noted service hiccups following its acquisition. Payline’s dedication to simplifying payment processes and its adaptability underscore its values.
Payline serves a diverse clientele, ranging from small startups to large enterprises. It is particularly well-suited for businesses that require robust in-person payment solutions, but may be less ideal for e-commerce-focused clients. Its U.S.-centric operations limit its reach but ensure focused service.
