OnScale Solve

The typical implementation process for OnScale Solve involves several key steps, designed to ensure a smooth transition and effective use of the platform. Here's a step-by-step overview:

1. Account Setup: Users start by creating an account on the OnScale Solve platform. This includes selecting the appropriate subscription plan based on their needs, whether it's the free plan with 10 core hours per month or a more extensive plan for higher usage.

2. Training and Onboarding: New users often undergo training sessions to familiarize themselves with the platform's features and capabilities. OnScale provides documentation and tutorials to help users get started with setting up and running simulations.

3. Integration: For businesses, integrating OnScale Solve into existing workflows is crucial. This involves using the platform's API to connect with other tools and systems used in the design and engineering processes.

4. Simulation Setup: Users set up their finite element models using the web-based modeler. This includes importing CAD files, repairing geometries, and defining simulation parameters such as material properties and boundary conditions.

5. Running Simulations: Once the setup is complete, simulations are run on OnScale's high-performance computing (HPC) platform. The cloud-based nature of the platform allows for scalable and efficient computation.

6. Analysis and Optimization: After simulations are completed, users analyze the results using the platform's built-in tools. This step may involve running additional parametric studies to optimize designs.

The entire implementation process can vary in duration depending on the complexity of the simulations and the level of integration required. For individual users or small teams, the process can be completed in a few days to a week. For larger organizations with more complex needs, it might take several weeks to fully integrate and optimize the use of OnScale Solve.

7. User Access Control: OnScale Solve provides features for managing user access and permissions, allowing businesses to control who can access and modify simulation data. This is crucial for maintaining data security and ensuring that only authorized personnel can make changes.

These customization options make OnScale Solve a versatile and powerful tool for businesses across various industries, enabling them to tailor the platform to their specific needs and optimize their engineering workflows.

OnScale Solve primarily uses a pay-as-you-go pricing model based on core-hours, which measure the computational time used by the platform. There are no setup fees, and users can start with a free account that includes 10 core-hours per month at no cost. For more extensive usage, users can purchase additional core-hours as needed. There are no explicit maintenance fees, as the platform is cloud-based and maintained by OnScale. However, specific add-ons, such as the Ansys Granta Materials Add-on, may incur additional monthly charges.

OnScale Solve offers comprehensive training and support to new users. This includes:

• Documentation and Tutorials: Extensive documentation and step-by-step tutorials are available to help users get started with the platform.

• Introductory Videos and Webinars: New users can access introductory videos and webinars that provide an overview of the software and demonstrate how to set up and run simulations.

• Community Forum: A community forum is available where users can ask questions, share knowledge, and get help from OnScale engineers and other users.

• Technical Support: OnScale provides technical support through email and a Discord channel, where users can get live help from engineers.

• Simulation Guides: OnScale offers simulation guides that walk users through the process of setting up and running simulations.

OnScale Solve takes data security very seriously and employs several measures to protect user data:

• Encryption: All data is encrypted during communication (in transit) and when stored in private buckets on AWS S3. Sensitive customer data is never decrypted during transfer or storage.

• Private Containers: Simulation jobs run in private, closed containers on AWS EC2, which are inaccessible outside of AWS and use hardware-level encryption.

• Password Management: Passwords and encryption keys are managed by AWS Cognito, ensuring that no one at OnScale has access to user passwords or encryption keys.

• Compliance: OnScale complies with strict regulatory standards for data security and uses best-in-class security components from AWS and GCP.

These measures ensure that user data is secure and protected at all times.

OnScale Solve releases updates regularly to enhance its features and performance. These updates typically include new simulation capabilities, bug fixes, and improvements to the user interface. The updates are managed through a cloud-based deployment, ensuring that all users have access to the latest features without needing to manually install updates. Users are notified of new updates through the platform's interface and can access detailed release notes to understand the changes.

OnScale Solve's policy on data ownership ensures that users retain full ownership of their data. Users can export their simulation data and results at any time, providing flexibility and control over their information. The platform supports various data export formats, making it easy to transfer data to other tools or systems as needed. This approach ensures that users can maintain their data integrity and portability, aligning with industry best practices for data management.

OnScale Solve offers a flexible "pay-as-you-simulate" pricing model, allowing users to scale their computational resources up or down based on their needs. This model ensures that users only pay for the core hours they consume, making it cost-effective for both small-scale and large-scale simulations. Users can easily adjust their subscription plans to accommodate changes in their simulation requirements, providing the flexibility to handle varying workloads without incurring unnecessary costs.

OnScale Solve's terms and conditions for contract renewal and cancellation are designed to provide flexibility and transparency for users. Here are some key points:

1. Contract Renewal: Contracts are typically renewed automatically at the end of each billing cycle unless the user opts out. Users can manage their subscription plans and renewal settings through the OnScale Solve portal.

2. Cancellation: Users can cancel their subscription at any time through the OnScale Solve portal. Upon cancellation, users will retain access to their account and any remaining core hours until the end of the current billing cycle.

3. Refund Policy: OnScale Solve does not typically offer refunds for unused core hours or partial months of service. However, users are encouraged to contact customer support for any specific concerns or issues.

4. Overage Charges: If users exceed their allocated core hours, they will be charged for the additional usage based on their subscription plan's overage rates.

OnScale Solve meets several key compliance standards to ensure data security and privacy:

1. AWS Compliance: OnScale Solve leverages Amazon Web Services (AWS) for its cloud infrastructure, benefiting from AWS's comprehensive security and compliance measures. AWS complies with numerous standards, including ISO 27001, SOC 1/2/3, and GDPR.

2. Data Encryption: All data is encrypted during communication (in transit) and when stored in private buckets on AWS S3. Sensitive customer data is never decrypted during transfer or storage.

3. Private Containers: Simulation jobs run in private, closed containers on AWS EC2, which are inaccessible outside of AWS and use hardware-level encryption.

4. Password Management: Passwords and encryption keys are managed by AWS Cognito, ensuring that no one at OnScale has access to user passwords or encryption keys.

These compliance measures ensure that OnScale Solve provides a secure and reliable platform for engineering simulations.
