magicplan empowers users to instantly generate 2D and 3D floor plans, field reports, and detailed estimates directly from any mobile device, leveraging AR and AI to automate measuring, sketching, and space analysis. Available on iOS and Android, it has become a global standard among contractors, architects, and claims professionals, downloaded by over 18 million users and mapping the equivalent of a small city each day.
Founded in 2010 as a basement startup in Montréal by five CAD software developers, magicplan launched its app in 2011—years before Apple’s ARKit—rapidly gaining recognition for pioneering smartphone-based floor plan automation. In 2016, magicplan merged with B&O, a German housing conglomerate, establishing offices in both Montréal and Munich and accelerating its global reach. The product was included in Apple’s Best Apps lists and became one of the top utilities in over 100 countries.
magicplan’s product suite includes:
Creation of 2D and 3D floor plans via AR and LiDAR scanning or manual input
Extensive object library and room editing tools
Seamless addition of photos, 360° panoramas, equipment, and notes directly onto plans
Automated cost estimation, project take-off, and reporting
Real-time collaboration, role-based permissions, and workspace management
Exports to various formats, including PDF, DXF, JPG, and integration with CAD/BIM software
Recent enhancements include improved AI-based space recognition, expanded object libraries, real-time project collaboration, workflow automations, and advanced reporting features. The platform regularly releases updates to support new hardware, streamline user experience, and introduce industry-specific functions.
