Kollective Technology Inc is a cloud-based, software-defined enterprise content delivery network (SD-ECDN) company headquartered in Bend, Oregon, USA. Originally founded as Kontiki in November 2000, it rebranded as Kollective after a major restructuring in March 2015. The company's technology leverages a peer-assisted delivery model using a combination of central servers and peer-to-peer communications to distribute high-bandwidth video and software content efficiently across corporate IT networks globally, operating in 190 countries with 117 employees and serving over 135 customers.
Kontiki began in 2000 and through multiple funding rounds accumulated $46.5 million before its acquisition by VeriSign in 2006 for $62 million. However, after being sold back to MK Capital in 2008, Kontiki shifted full focus to enterprise services. It raised an additional $10.7 million in 2010. The rebranding to Kollective in 2015 followed a merger with an Oregon-based enterprise content delivery company. Since then, Kollective expanded its presence with offices across the US, Europe, and Asia-Pacific regions.
Before its acquisition history, Kontiki raised significant capital, including $46.5 million until 2006 and an additional $10.7 million funding round in 2010. The transaction valuations included a $62 million acquisition by VeriSign and a rumored $40 million valuation during the MK Capital buyback, though exact current valuation details are less publicly available.
The most notable acquisition was the merger of Kontiki with Kollective in 2015 leading to the current company structure and expansion beyond video to software distribution, operating system deployment, and broader enterprise content delivery. This merger broadened product scope and global reach with offices in key locations worldwide. Since then, product enhancements have focused on network observability and optimization tailored for enterprise video communication and collaboration.
Recent enhancements position Kollective as the first platform to integrate video observability, analytics, and optimization for enterprises. These allow IT and communication leaders to gain full video network visibility with proactive alerts, seamless integration into existing dashboards, and tools for tracking engagement and video quality across devices and locations. The emphasis is on delivering reliable, trouble-free video experiences at scale with insights that drive business and communication performance.
Kollective emphasizes a mission of delivering consistent, reliable communication to enterprises. The company culture values innovation, customer success, and dedication to seamless video experience delivery. It seeks like-minded team players who thrive in an achievement-driven environment and reward results, energy, and ideas. The global footprint and team expertise reflect commitment to client success and ongoing innovation in video technology and network optimization.
