Amazon EC2 Spot Instances allow users to take advantage of unused EC2 capacity at significantly reduced prices, offering savings of up to 90% compared to On-Demand pricing. These instances are ideal for stateless, fault-tolerant, and flexible applications such as big data processing, containerized workloads, CI/CD pipelines, web services, and high-performance computing (HPC). Spot Instances can be launched via the RunInstances API with a single additional parameter and are integrated with various AWS services like Auto Scaling, Amazon EMR, ECS, and EKS. Users can manage Spot Instances through Spot Fleets, which automatically request the lowest-priced capacity and maintain desired compute levels by replacing interrupted instances. Spot Instances also support features like capacity rebalancing, interruption handling with a two-minute warning, and the ability to specify maximum prices to control costs. These features make Spot Instances a cost-effective and scalable solution for diverse workloads
