CORE smartwork
By CORE smartwork GmbH
CORE smartwork GmbH, headquartered in Gurten, Upper Austria, is a pioneering Employee Relationship Management (ERM) and internal communication platform. The company’s mission—"Connect employees, provide meaning"—underpins its unique all-in-one approach to tackling workforce engagement, internal branding, and communication workflows.
Established in 2012 by Andreas Fill, Klaus Appeltauer, and Martin Schoiswohl, CORE smartwork originated from firsthand industry challenges in Austrian manufacturing. Their goal was to streamline internal processes and nurture employer branding. Over time, the company has expanded to serve approximately 80 enterprise clients, offering a customizable suite of modules and mobile/web access in around 80 languages.
CORE smartwork remains an unfunded, privately held company—operating without external venture capital. According to Tracxn, it has not raised formal investment rounds, indicating self-sustained growth through revenue and reinvestment. This bootstrapped model allows CORE to maintain full strategic autonomy, although financial details and valuation remain undisclosed.
The platform delivers a modular ERM software ecosystem with 19 configurable modules covering communication (newsfeeds, chat), HR workflows (personnel records, recruitment), performance management (360° feedback, reviews), learning and development (e-learning), innovation (idea management), wellness, and corporate TV. Clients choose between three editions—Lite, Standard, or Advanced—tailored to their scale and functional requirements.
Recent innovations include the integrated chat feature, revamped mobile UI, and enhanced navigation—released in May 2024. This update reflects CORE’s agile delivery model and commitment to ongoing product refinement.
CORE's culture is deeply rooted in employer branding, internal communication, and outcome-oriented engagement. They practice what they preach—hosting an annual Employer Branding Forum and emphasizing meaningful, coordinated change to foster intelligent, resilient organizations.
With over 80 corporate clients across diverse industries—including manufacturing, finance, construction, legal, and insurance—CORE smartwork supports localized digital workplaces with multilingual, GDPR-compliant solutions. Recognized as a Top-Rated Social Intranet and Applicant Tracking System (ATS) leader in Q2 2025 by OMR, they enjoy high user satisfaction (4.7–5.0/5) for usability, support, and feature set.
