1. Encryption: Neat encrypts stored files using the same standard employed by U.S. banks and credit agencies, ensuring that data is protected both in transit and at rest. This encryption standard is the 256-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES-256), which is also used by the U.S. Government.
2. Data Center Security: The software and applications provided by Neat are hosted with leading data center providers. Access to these data centers is strictly controlled, and they are SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certified. These certifications indicate that the data centers meet high standards for security and reliability. Additionally, they provide N+1 redundancy for all power, network, and HVAC services.
3. Monitoring and Audits: Neat's infrastructure is monitored around the clock, every day of the year, to ensure the continuous security and availability of its services. The company and its vendor/partners perform numerous external audits and assessments throughout the year to maintain security and compliance requirements. This includes third-party network penetration testing conducted at least once per year to test Neat's internal and external network, product, and corporate infrastructure.
4. Data Privacy and Use: Neat promises never to sell customer information to third parties. Access to customer data is restricted to limited Neat personnel who have a specific business and/or product need to access it. This ensures that customer data is used responsibly and only for intended purposes.
5. Resiliency and Availability: Neat maintains a platform availability consistently above 99.9%. Customer data is 100% backed up and encrypted to multiple online replicas with additional snapshots. - Microsoft Teams Integration: For devices running Microsoft Teams, starting with the version 20230928 release, NEAT devices automatically update their Microsoft application versions alongside NEAT firmware. This includes updates for the Teams application, Company Portal, and Admin Agent versions. - Zoom Integration: NEAT also tests Zoom’s app releases before making them available through ota.neat.no. There is typically a latency of 1-2 weeks between Zoom releasing an app and NEAT making it available to NEAT devices. In some cases, NEAT may choose to skip a specific Zoom app release.
Manual Updates
- Microsoft Teams Rooms (MTR): Administrators can manually manage updates through the TAC for devices registered as MTR. This includes both full releases (bundling NEAT firmware and Microsoft apps) and app-only releases (updating Microsoft apps without changing the firmware version).
- Zoom Rooms: Organizations with strict change control policies may opt for manual updates. In this mode, updates to NEAT firmware and Zoom apps are initiated manually from the Zoom Room administrator interface. The update process does not wait for a specific timeframe and cannot be scheduled in advance.
Update Frequency and Management
- Frequency: The structured approach to both automatic and manual updates suggests that NEAT Software is committed to regular updates to improve functionality, security, and compatibility with partner platforms like Microsoft Teams and Zoom.
- Management: Updates are managed through a combination of NEAT's own firmware updates and integration with third-party platforms (Microsoft Teams and Zoom). This ensures that NEAT devices remain compatible with key collaboration tools while also benefiting from the latest security and performance enhancements.
In summary, NEAT Software releases updates in a manner that supports both automatic and manual update processes, catering to the needs of various organizational policies.
