IDrive Inc., formerly known as Pro Softnet Corporation, is a privately held technology company based in Calabasas, California. Founded in 1995, the company specializes in developing data backup applications, with its flagship product being the IDrive online backup service.
Pro Softnet Corporation was founded in 1995 and initially offered a product called IBackup. In the mid-2000s, the company acquired the idrive.com domain name from the defunct company I-drive, leading to the launch of the IDrive online backup service.
As a privately held company, details about IDrive's funding and valuation are not publicly available. However, the company's longevity and growth over the past two decades suggest that it has been able to secure sufficient funding to sustain its operations and product development.
Over the years, IDrive has expanded its product offerings through strategic acquisitions and partnerships. In 2012, the company released IDrive EVS, a software development kit and API that allows users to create custom applications for IDrive's cloud storage services.
IDrive continuously updates its products with new features and enhancements based on user feedback. Recent additions include IDrive Photos, a subscription-based app for iOS and Android that allows users to back up photos in their original resolution.
IDrive places a strong emphasis on data security and user privacy. The company's commitment to these values is evident in its use of 256-bit AES encryption and the option for user-defined encryption keys. IDrive also maintains a global presence, with research and development centers in India.
IDrive serves a diverse user base, including individuals, small businesses, and enterprises. The company claims to have over 4 million customers worldwide.
