Its mission is to make high-quality video background removal accessible and efficient for users across industries. Unscreen is now part of Canva, further enhancing its reach and capabilities.
Unscreen was founded in 2020 as an extension of Kaleido AI's success with remove.bg, a background removal tool for images. The company quickly gained traction due to its innovative approach to video editing, offering a simple drag-and-drop interface for background removal. By 2020, Unscreen had grown significantly and doubled its workforce to around 30 employees. Unscreen has not made any acquisitions but has expanded its product offerings by integrating with Adobe tools like Premiere Pro and After Effects. Recent updates include the launch of the Unscreen Pro plugin for Adobe software, which simplifies importing processed videos into editing workflows. The tool also supports full-length clips with original audio retention, making it suitable for professional use cases like marketing videos or social media content creation.
