Account Creation and Subscription: Users need to create an account on the IDrive website and purchase a subscription plan suitable for their needs.
Software Installation: The IDrive application can be installed on various devices, including PCs, Macs, iOS, and Android devices. The installation process is straightforward and can be done via the web or using scripts for remote installations.
Configuration: After installation, users configure the software settings to align with their backup and storage needs. This includes setting up backup schedules, selecting files and folders for backup, and configuring user roles and permissions.
Data Migration: Users can migrate their existing data to IDrive's cloud storage. This involves extracting data from the old system, transforming it to fit the new format, and performing thorough testing to ensure data integrity.
Managing Updates
Updates can be managed through the IDrive Dashboard, which provides a centralized console for administrators. Here are the steps to manage updates:
Notification of Updates: Users are notified of available updates through the 'Settings' tab in the centralized web console.
Remote Update Installation: Administrators can remotely update the IDrive application on any connected computer via the Dashboard. This feature ensures that all devices are running the latest version without requiring manual intervention on each device.
Update Process:
Data Ownership:
IDrive's policy ensures that users retain full ownership of their data. According to their Data Processing Agreement (DPA), IDrive acts as a data processor, meaning that the data stored on their servers remains the property of the user. This is crucial for businesses that need to maintain control over their sensitive information.
Data Portability:
IDrive supports data portability, allowing users to easily download and transfer their data. This feature is particularly useful for businesses that may need to migrate their data to another service or for compliance purposes. Users can export their data at any time, ensuring that they have continuous access to their information without being locked into the service.
Upgrading Plans:
Users can upgrade their storage plans at any time to accommodate increased data storage needs. This can be done through the IDrive account settings, where users can select a higher storage tier and adjust their subscription accordingly.
Downgrading Plans:
Similarly, users can downgrade their plans if they find that they need less storage. This flexibility ensures that businesses only pay for the storage they actually use, making it a cost-effective solution.
Billing Adjustments:
Contract Renewal
Automatic Renewal:
IDrive subscriptions are set to auto-renew by default. This ensures that the account remains active and data is continuously protected without interruption.
Disabling Auto-Renewal:
Users can disable the auto-renewal feature from their account settings. This can be done by signing into the IDrive account, navigating to the 'Profile Details' section, and selecting 'Cancel auto-renewal'.
Once auto-renewal is canceled, the button will change to 'Enable Auto-renewal' in the profile section. Users will lose access to their IDrive account, and their data will be permanently deleted at the end of the subscription period.
Contract Cancellation
Cancellation Process:
Users can cancel their IDrive account by signing in, navigating to the 'Profile Details' section, and selecting 'Cancel my account'. A confirmation popup will appear, requiring the user to enter their password and other information to finalize the cancellation.
For IDrive CRM, users must provide at least 15 days' prior written notice to terminate the service. If the account is canceled for any reason, user data will be removed from IDrive's storage servers.
Refund Policy:
Refunds are issued if the account is canceled within 15 days of its creation date. After 15 days, pro-rated refunds are issued on a case-by-case basis, subject to eligibility.
No pro-rated refunds are provided for the remaining period of a month when an account with a monthly subscription plan is downgraded to a smaller plan during the middle of a month. The new plan rate will be charged starting the first of the subsequent month.
Grace Period for Non-Payment:
IDrive may provide a grace period of up to 15 days from the due date to allow customers to arrange payment before account cancellation due to non-payment.
Termination by IDrive:
IDrive reserves the right to terminate the agreement immediately with or without notice if the user fails to conform to any restrictions contained in the agreement, performs any activities regarded as illegal, or if there are any material changes in the ownership and management of the user's business.
HIPAA: IDrive is compliant with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), which is crucial for handling personal health information.
GDPR: IDrive complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), ensuring data protection and privacy for individuals within the European Union.
PCI DSS: IDrive adheres to the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) for handling cardholder data securely.
