Feedly is a web-based content aggregation, content curation, and RSS feed-reading platform. It was founded in 2008 by Edwin Khodabakchian and Olivier Devaux. Feedly allows users to follow their favorite websites, blogs, YouTube channels, and social media profiles, and aggregates content from these sources into a personalized feed.
Feedly was originally named Feeddo when it was first introduced by Khodabakchian, an experienced entrepreneur, a few years ago. In November 2012, the company shifted its focus to develop a sophisticated news aggregator to compete with Google Reader. The platform catered to a diverse audience, including professionals like brain scientists and educators who sought to keep abreast of developments in their respective fields.
Feedly has a large and engaged user base. As of 2013, the company had amassed around 15 million users, with approximately 80% of Google Reader's user base transitioning to Feedly after Google discontinued its service.
