By Deltek, Inc.
The typical implementation process for Deltek Vision software involves several key steps designed to ensure a smooth transition and effective use of the system:
Initial Consultation and Planning: This phase involves understanding the specific needs of the business, defining the scope of the project, and setting clear objectives. It includes detailed discussions with stakeholders to align the software capabilities with business requirements.
System Configuration and Customization: Deltek Vision is highly customizable to fit specific business needs. During this phase, the software is configured to match the unique processes and workflows of the organization. Customization options include:
Tailoring the user interface and dashboards to meet the specific needs of different roles within the organization.
Setting up project templates, financial structures, and reporting formats that align with the business's operational requirements.
Integrating with other existing systems and tools used by the organization to ensure seamless data flow and process automation.
Data Migration: This involves transferring existing data from legacy systems into Deltek Vision. It is a critical step that requires careful planning and execution to ensure data integrity and accuracy.
Training and User Adoption: Comprehensive training programs are conducted to ensure that all users are comfortable with the new system. This includes role-based training sessions, user manuals, and ongoing support to address any issues that arise during the initial usage period.
Testing and Go-Live: Before the system goes live, extensive testing is conducted to identify and resolve any issues. This includes user acceptance testing (UAT) to ensure that the system meets all business requirements. Once testing is complete, the system is officially launched.
Deltek Vision customization:
Role-Based Dashboards and Metrics: The software provides role-based metrics and dashboards that can be tailored to the specific needs of different users, such as project managers, executives, and operations staff. This ensures that each user has access to the most relevant information and tools for their role.
Project and Financial Management: Vision allows for the customization of project templates, financial structures, and reporting formats. This helps businesses manage the complete project lifecycle, from winning new business to executing projects and improving performance.
Integration with Other Systems: The software can be integrated with other existing systems and tools used by the organization, ensuring seamless data flow and process automation. This helps eliminate manual processes and increase efficiency across the business.
Deltek Vision training and supports:
Deltek University: This platform offers a variety of training resources, including introductory courses, advanced training, and product certification exams. Users can access learning videos, infographics, and other materials to enhance their understanding of the software.
Live Online Training: Deltek offers live online training sessions that allow users to interact with instructors in real-time. These sessions cover various aspects of the software and are designed to help users quickly become proficient.
In-Person Training: For organizations that prefer face-to-face training, Deltek provides in-person training sessions. These can be held on-site or at designated training centers.
Webinars and Documentation: Deltek also offers webinars and extensive documentation, including user manuals and FAQs, to support ongoing learning and troubleshooting.
Deltek Vision security measures:
Data Encryption: Customer data is protected both in transit and at rest using advanced encryption technologies such as TLS and AES 256-bit encryption.
Security Information & Event Management (SIEM): This system allows for active monitoring of system and application logs to identify potentially malicious activity, enabling faster detection and response to security incidents.
Endpoint Protections: Deltek uses anti-malware, anti-virus, and host-intrusion prevention systems to identify, quarantine, and remove malicious files.
Intrusion Detection and Prevention (IPS): This combines firewalls and load balancers to detect and prevent network and application-layer threats.
Role-Based Authentication: Deltek employs role-based authentication controls to ensure that only authorized personnel can access the system. Multi-factor authentication is also used to enhance security.
Regular Audits and Compliance: Deltek's cloud solutions are audited annually using industry-leading standards such as SOC reporting and NIST SP 800-171. These audits ensure that the software meets stringent security and compliance requirements.
Deltek Vision releases updates regularly to address software issues, provide enhancements, and ensure regulatory compliance. These updates are typically managed through cumulative updates (CUs) and major version releases. For example, the Vision 7.6 Cumulative Update 11 (CU 11) includes all software issues resolved and updates provided up to that point.Similarly, other cumulative updates like Vision 7.5 CU 02 and Vision 7.6 CU 07 follow the same pattern. The update process involves:
Cumulative Updates: These are periodic updates that include bug fixes, enhancements, and regulatory updates. They are cumulative, meaning each new update includes all previous updates.
Deltek Vision data ownership and portability:
Customer-Entered Data: Data entered by customers into Deltek products is controlled by the customers themselves. Deltek's Privacy Policy does not cover this data, as it is governed by separate agreements with customers.
Deltek Vision scalability:
Scalability: Vision is built to support company growth and can be easily scaled to accommodate more users, projects, and data. This is facilitated by its web-based architecture and cloud deployment options, which allow for flexible scaling without significant infrastructure changes.
Licensing Adjustments: Organizations can adjust their licensing agreements to add or remove users and features as needed. This flexibility ensures that businesses only pay for what they use and can scale their usage in response to changing requirements.
