By Virtuozzo
Virtuozzo is a privately held software company headquartered in Schaffhausen, Switzerland. It specializes in virtualization and cloud management software tailored for cloud computing providers, managed services providers (MSPs), and internet hosting service providers. The company's software enables service providers to offer Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Container-as-a-Service (CaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), Kubernetes-as-a-Service (KaaS), WordPress-as-a-Service, and other solutions.
Virtuozzo origins trace back to 1997 when it was founded as SWsoft, focusing on server automation and virtualization. In 2000, it released the first commercially available operating system-level virtualization container technology. SWsoft acquired Plesk in 2003 and Parallels in 2004. In 2007, SWsoft rebranded as Parallels. Virtuozzo was later spun out from Parallels in December 2015 to become a standalone company.
Virtuozzo offers a suite of products designed to empower service providers:
Virtuozzo Hybrid Infrastructure: An OpenStack-based cloud management platform enabling public, private, and hybrid cloud services, including Kubernetes-as-a-Service and Storage-as-a-Service.
Virtuozzo Hybrid Server: Facilitates Virtual Private Servers, shared web hosting, container hosting, and Storage-as-a-Service.
Virtuozzo Application Platform: Provides Platform-as-a-Service with integrated DevOps tools for application deployment and management.
Virtuozzo Application Platform for WordPress: Tailored PaaS for WordPress-based websites.
Virtuozzo Cloud Platform for VMware: A self-service cloud management, provisioning, and billing portal for VMware vCenter environments.
Virtuozzo has strategically expanded its capabilities through acquisitions:
OnApp (July 2021): Acquired to enhance Virtuozzo's cloud platform offerings, including VMware cloud management and CDN services.
In June 2023, Virtuozzo launched its Hybrid Cloud offering, designed to help MSPs provide cloud computing services at higher margins. This platform integrates system containers, a hypervisor, and software-defined storage into a single, efficient solution. It allows MSPs to offer services like virtualization, IaaS, S3-compatible storage, PaaS, Kubernetes-as-a-Service, and Backup-as-a-Service through an easy-to-use web interface. The Hybrid Cloud aims to reduce customer costs by up to 25% and increase MSPs' profit margins compared to traditional public cloud platforms. PR Distribution & Investor Relations+2
