Rayon offers extensive customization options to fit a wide range of business needs, making it highly adaptable within the AEC sector and beyond.
Element-Level Customization: Every design element—rooms, walls, doors, windows, symbols—can be resized, reshaped, or styled to meet specific project requirements.
Template & Library Customization: Users can start with over 100+ templates (houses, offices, retail, niche areas) and tailor layouts, styles, and dimensions, or create their own reusable templates for recurring business workflows.
Rayon's extensive library of 4,000+ blocks/assets (furniture, materials, MEP symbols) allows drag-and-drop customization for unique project branding or standards.
Custom Block and Style Libraries: Teams and businesses can build shared libraries of blocks and styles (including imported DWGs), enabling branded drawing sets, standardized documentation, and rapid reuse across projects. Metadata and custom properties (e.g., for door or equipment types) can be attached and reused to enforce internal standards.
Annotation, Layers, and Symbols: Companies can customize annotation styles, units (mm, cm, m, feet, inches), color schemes, layers, and symbols to support specific technical, regulatory, or client-facing requirements.
Custom Technical Properties and Tables: Users can add custom properties to technical elements (lighting, plumbing, fire systems), track project-specific details (installation dates, supplier info, maintenance schedules), and export tables for workflow automation and compliance tracking.
Industry-Specific Adaptation: Rayon supports customization for various business verticals, including real estate development (custom zones/workflows), MEP engineering, facility management, construction, and interior design, with respective templates and tools.
Integration and Output Flexibility: Export options (DWG, DXF, PDF, PNG, SVG) ensure integration with external systems, consultants, and collaborators, supporting compatibility with nearly all industry workflows.
Rayon provides a wide range of training and support resources for new users to ensure rapid onboarding and effective software adoption.
Comprehensive Video Tutorials: Rayon maintains an extensive library of official quickstart and deep-dive video tutorials (via YouTube and Rayon Academy) covering fundamentals, advanced features, workflows, and discipline-specific applications.
Step-by-Step Onboarding: New users are guided through an in-app onboarding process upon signup, including workspace setup, roles assignment, and starting their first project, with prompts for key features.
Live and Recorded Training: Rayon Academy offers live sessions, masterclasses, and scheduled webinars for both individuals and organizations, in addition to their self-paced learning platform.
Official Documentation & Knowledge Base: Detailed online product documentation is available, including step-by-step articles, FAQs, best practices, and troubleshooting guides for all core features.
Template and Asset Libraries: Users can access and follow guided examples using hundreds of provided templates and block libraries designed for learning by doing.
Community and Support Channels: Support is provided via community forums, email assistance, social media, and a dedicated help contact for technical or workflow-specific queries.
Rayon employs several security measures and data protection practices to safeguard user data, aligning with modern SaaS and GDPR standards.
GDPR Compliance: Rayon is fully GDPR-compliant, acting as a data controller under EU law and providing rights like data access, correction, erasure, portability, and restriction for all users.
Role-Based Access and Authorization: Personal data is accessible only to duly authorized employees and service providers, ensuring strict controls over user and administrator access.
Data Encryption and Safeguards: Data transfers to international processors (e.g., US-based infrastructure) utilize Standard Contractual Clauses and appropriate safeguards to maintain a secure environment, upholding EU standards even outside the region.
Retention and Deletion Policies: User data is retained only as long as required for legal, contractual, and operational purposes. Data related to account management is held per French commercial regulations, while marketing and support data is deleted after specified periods.
Limited Sharing: Data is shared solely with essential parties such as service providers and (if necessary) appropriate authorities, reducing exposure and risk.
User Control of Data: Users can exercise their rights for data deletion, modification, and transfer, providing transparency and control over personal information.
Rayon releases product updates monthly as part of a continuous improvement cycle. Updates are managed through cloud deployment, meaning changes are automatically available to all users without manual installation or downloads.
Monthly Release Cadence: Major and minor product updates (new features, bug fixes, performance improvements) are published every month, as evidenced by update logs for January through July 2025, plus regular releases in previous years.
Update Management: As a browser-based SaaS, Rayon delivers all updates server-side, so users always access the most current version by simply opening the app—no action required on their part. This enables instant feature access and ensures consistent functionality across teams.
Rayon’s policy on data ownership and portability gives users clear rights over their content while keeping all platform-related intellectual property with Rayon itself.
User Content Ownership: Users (clients) retain full ownership of all intellectual property rights for content uploaded into or created on the Rayon platform—this includes drawings, floorplans, custom blocks, and metadata.
Platform and Library Ownership: Rayon retains ownership of all intellectual property rights related to the platform, core resources, and shared libraries.
Data Portability: Users have the right to export their project data at any time. Rayon enables exporting of drawings and project information in widely-used formats, including DWG, DXF, PDF, PNG, and SVG, supporting seamless transfer to other tools or storage providers. Personal data is also portable under GDPR, allowing users to request their data in an electronic form or have it transferred to another service where technically feasible.
Control and Deletion: Users may delete their content from the platform at their discretion, and upon request, have the right to have personal and project data erased, unless retention is required by law.
No License Transfer for Platform Tech: The right to use Rayon’s platform and resources is granted to clients and collaborators as a non-exclusive, non-transferable license, valid only while the user maintains an active account; platform code or shared library IP cannot be used to build or train competing software.
Rayon offers flexible terms for scaling subscriptions up or down to match changing organizational needs, aligned with modern SaaS practices.
Tier and Seat Management: Organizations can select appropriate subscription tiers (monthly or yearly) with different feature sets and user limits, and adjust these tiers at the end of each billing cycle. Paid subscriptions can increase or decrease seats/users as needed before renewal.
Upgrading Service: Users can upgrade to a higher tier (with more features or user seats) at any time by paying the additional fee for the new tier. The upgraded services are available immediately after payment.
Downgrading or Reducing Scale: Users can terminate or downgrade subscriptions at the end of their current term (not mid-term). The account is then downgraded to the free tier, with loss of premium/paid features but ongoing access to basic functionality and data.
Immediate Termination: Organizations may delete the Owner Account at any time, which results in immediate termination, loss of access to all data/content, and deletion of the account from the platform.
Refund Policy: Refunds are not generally available for seat reductions or downgrades except in cases of major technical issues, mistaken yearly payments, verified double charges, or student discount eligibility.
User Flexibility: Teams can add, remove, or reassign team members and adjust their organization’s use case as needed, both within the platform and by contacting Rayon support for non-standard scaling requirements.
Rayon’s terms and conditions for contract renewal and cancellation are transparent, with specific provisions for free, paid, and student tiers.
Subscription Renewal
Paid subscriptions are for fixed terms (monthly or yearly).
At the end of the term, subscribers can renew by selecting a tier and paying the applicable fee. If not renewed, accounts are automatically downgraded to the free tier, where the user retains access but loses paid features.
Student tier is valid for up to two years for actively enrolled students; ineligible or non-compliant accounts are downgraded to the free tier.
Cancellation by Client
Free tier: Cancel anytime by deleting the Owner Account; this deletes all associated data and content immediately.
Paid tier: Cancel anytime. Fees paid in advance are non-refundable except in specific circumstances (see Refund Policy). If canceled, the account remains active on the paid tier until the term ends, then is downgraded to the free tier, with the downgrade policy detailed in the contract appendices.
Immediate termination and data deletion: Deleting the Owner Account instantly terminates the contract and erases data.
Termination for Cause
Either party can terminate for cause if the other breaches contractual obligations and fails to remedy within 30 days after written notice. In this case, pre-paid fees are refunded pro rata.
Rayon may also terminate immediately for serious breaches by the client (e.g., non-payment, violation of use terms).
Refund Policy
Refunds are only granted for major technical issues, mistaken yearly payments, eligibility for student discount, or double-charging—usual non-refund reasons include lack of use or missing cancellation deadlines.
No refund is provided for simple non-use or change of preference; subscriptions auto-renew unless canceled ahead of the renewal date.
Amendment and Notification: Rayon may amend terms with 15 days’ notice. If users object, they can terminate during this period. Otherwise, continued use implies acceptance of the change.
Rayon is designed to help users comply with both industry and regulatory compliance standards that are central to architectural, engineering, and construction (AEC) workflows, with a particular focus on data protection and drawing accuracy.
GDPR Compliance: Rayon is fully compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), ensuring rights of data access, correction, erasure, portability, and restricting/objection for all users whose data is processed. The company utilizes European Commission Standard Contractual Clauses for cross-border data transfers and upholds strong privacy and security requirements.
Building Codes & Project Compliance Support: Rayon empowers users to produce drawings that meet local and international fire safety, accessibility, and technical standards (as demonstrated by compliance-ready templates for accessibility, fire safety, and office layouts).
The platform provides features for documenting compliance with zoning regulations, safety codes, and accessibility requirements as part of project submissions.
Data Security Best Practices: Alongside GDPR, Rayon implements robust data safeguards and only uses authorized processors and service providers for technical operations.
