Zamp's implementation is designed to be a 'done-for-you' experience that takes minutes of the customer's time rather than days of engineering. The journey begins with a 30-minute discovery call with a sales tax expert to assess nexus and requirements. Once signed, a dedicated Onboarding Specialist is assigned. The specialist manages the technical integration with platforms like Shopify or Stripe, often via a 'single-click' authentication. Following integration, Zamp performs a historical data sync to identify existing tax exposure. The onboarding team then handles any necessary state registrations and product taxability mapping. While the initial connection is nearly instant, the full 'go-live'—including state-level registration approvals and historical data reconciliation—typically takes between 3 to 10 business days, with Zamp managing every step of the communication with tax authorities.
While Zamp is a managed service that aims for out-of-the-box automation, it offers significant customization for complex business models. For businesses using custom-built platforms, Zamp provides a robust, developer-friendly API that allows for bespoke checkout integrations and calculation logic. Within the dashboard, users can customize 'Product Taxability Codes' to reflect unique service bundles or digital goods that may have varying tax treatments across jurisdictions. The Z-Tax offering also provides customization for accounting firms, allowing them to white-label the service for their clients. Furthermore, the platform supports 'Multi-Entity' configurations, enabling parent companies to manage different tax settings and filing frequencies for various subsidiaries from a single administrative login.

By Zamp Technologies, Inc.
Zamp operates on a transparent, all-inclusive pricing model designed to eliminate the hidden fees common in the tax software industry. There are no separate 'setup fees' for onboarding, no 'per-registration' fees for new states, and no 'per-notice' fees for managing correspondence with tax authorities. All filings, nexus tracking, and dedicated account support are included in the base subscription fee. The only potential for cost adjustment occurs if a business consistently exceeds its transaction or state tier for three consecutive months, at which point Zamp will work with the customer to move them to the next appropriate tier. There are no 'overage' penalties or surprise charges for seasonal spikes in transaction volume, providing CFOs with a fixed and predictable compliance budget.
Because Zamp is a managed solution, the need for extensive user training is minimized. However, the company provides a comprehensive onboarding program led by a named specialist who walks the finance team through the dashboard, reporting tools, and approval workflows. For accounting partners using Z-Tax, Zamp offers specialized webinars and training sessions to help them explain sales tax concepts to their clients. The 'Zamp Knowledge Base' is a rich repository of articles, video walkthroughs, and step-by-step guides for all major integrations (Shopify, QuickBooks, etc.). Additionally, every customer has access to live support from tax experts who can answer specific technical or legal questions as they arise, ensuring the team is never left to guess on compliance matters.
Security is a foundational pillar of Zamp's platform, given the sensitivity of financial and customer data. The platform uses industry-standard SSL encryption for all data in transit and robust encryption for data at rest. Zamp maintains an 'audit-ready' archival system that securely stores all historical transaction data, filing receipts, and state notices. Access to the platform is managed through secure administrative roles with password protection. While the software automates calculations, the accuracy is guaranteed through a multi-tier review process where qualified tax attorneys verify the underlying research and logic. Zamp’s infrastructure is designed to be audit-defensible, providing a transparent trail of every calculation and filing for future tax authority reviews.
Zamp maintains a rigorous monthly and quarterly update cycle to stay ahead of the constantly changing US tax landscape. Their internal SALT research team, led by attorneys, monitors state statutes, private letter rulings, and legislative sessions across all 50 states. Updates to tax rates, boundary changes (GIS data), and product taxability rules are implemented automatically in the cloud-based tax engine without requiring any action from the user. For software updates, Zamp follows a continuous deployment model for minor improvements and typically releases major new modules (like the Z-Tax portal) every few months. Clients are proactively notified via the dashboard or email of any major changes that might affect their specific nexus or filing requirements.
Zamp’s terms of service clearly state that the 'Customer' owns all right, title, and interest in and to the Customer Data (including transaction records and tax info). Zamp is granted a license to use this data solely to provide the contracted services. Importantly, Zamp provides easy export options for all transactional and filing data, ensuring that customers can take their records with them if they ever choose to move to a different provider. All completed filings and payment artifacts (receipts from the state) are archived in an 'audit-ready' format and can be downloaded at any time. This ensures that the business maintains its compliance history regardless of its current software subscription status.
Zamp is built to scale seamlessly with a business from its first $1M in sales to over $100M. The automated 'Nexus Tracker' is the primary tool for scaling, as it continuously monitors sales volume in every state. When a business hits a new economic threshold (e.g., $100k in sales or 200 transactions in a state), Zamp proactively alerts the user and handles the new state registration automatically. Because Zamp handles the labor of filing, the customer's workload does not increase as they expand from 2 states to 47 states. The 'One Price' model also scales predictably, with clear tiers that only adjust after sustained growth, preventing seasonal sales spikes from causing immediate or erratic price hikes.
Zamp typically offers flexible subscription terms with both monthly and annual payment options available. Contracts are straightforward, with a focus on 'Simple, No-Surprise' billing. Annual plans often come with a discount compared to month-to-month billing. Regarding renewals and cancellations, Zamp follows standard SaaS practices, requiring a notice period (typically 30 days) before the end of a billing cycle. A key term in their service agreement is the 'tier buffer,' which allows a business to exceed their state count by one state without an immediate upgrade, and requires three consecutive months of transaction overages before a tier change is triggered. This policy is specifically designed to be founder-friendly and accommodate the natural fluctuations of e-commerce businesses.
Zamp is a specialized compliance solution for US Sales and Use Tax. It ensures that businesses adhere to the complex 'post-Wayfair' economic nexus laws and 'marketplace facilitator' regulations across all 45 states with a state-level sales tax, plus D.C. and thousands of local jurisdictions. The platform's accuracy is backed by attorney-led research, ensuring that determinations for complex categories like SaaS and digital products are legally defensible. Zamp also helps businesses comply with state registration requirements and 'Home Rule' local filing mandates (e.g., in Colorado). While Zamp focuses on US tax compliance, its data handling and platform security are designed to meet the high trust standards required by enterprise finance teams and auditors.
