The typical implementation process for Wasabi software involves several key steps, designed to ensure a smooth transition and optimal use of the cloud storage service. Here’s an overview of the process:
Project Kick-off: This initial phase involves gathering all stakeholders, including IT teams and end-users, to define objectives, timelines, and responsibilities. This collaborative approach sets the tone for the entire implementation process.
Data Migration: Transferring existing data to Wasabi's cloud storage is a critical step. This phase includes assessing current data sources, ensuring data integrity, and securely migrating data to the new platform. The time required for data migration can vary depending on the volume of data and network speed.
Configuration and Customization: Wasabi's platform can be tailored to meet specific business needs. This includes setting up user accounts, creating storage buckets, and defining access policies. Customization ensures that the platform aligns with the unique requirements of the business.
System Integration: Ensuring that Wasabi integrates seamlessly with existing systems is crucial. This step involves configuring the platform to work with other software and tools used by the business, enhancing workflow continuity, and reducing disruptions.
User Training: Training sessions are conducted to familiarize users with the new system. These sessions are tailored to different user roles, ensuring that everyone can effectively use the platform. Hands-on practice and real-life scenarios are emphasized to make the training more impactful.
Testing and Quality Assurance: Before going live, rigorous testing is performed to ensure that the software meets all requirements and is free from bugs. User acceptance testing (UAT) provides a glimpse into real-world performance and helps refine the system.
Deployment and Go-live: The final phase involves deploying the system and making it live for all users. Continuous monitoring and support are provided to address any issues that may arise during the initial usage period.
The duration of the implementation process can vary based on the complexity of the project and the size of the organization. For small to medium-sized businesses, the process might take a few weeks, while larger enterprises might require several months to complete the implementation.

These updates are managed through the Wasabi Academy, where users can find detailed information about the latest changes. Additionally, Wasabi provides a service status and updates page where users can subscribe to notifications via email or RSS for service issues or scheduled maintenance. This ensures that users are always informed about the latest improvements and any potential service interruptions.
Wasabi's policy on data ownership is clear: users retain full ownership of their data. Wasabi acts as a custodian, ensuring the data is stored securely and is accessible when needed. For data portability, Wasabi offers several methods to facilitate the transfer of large datasets. These include the Wasabi Ball Transfer Appliance, which allows for quick and cost-effective data migration, and Wasabi Direct Connect, a high-speed, private connection that significantly improves transfer times. These options help prevent cloud lock-in and ensure that users can move their data as needed.
Wasabi's terms for scaling up or down are designed to be flexible and responsive to organizational needs. Users can easily adjust their storage capacity without any long-term commitments or penalties. This scalability is particularly beneficial for businesses experiencing growth or fluctuating storage demands. Wasabi's pay-as-you-go pricing model allows users to pay only for the storage they use, making it cost-effective to scale up or down as required. This flexibility ensures that businesses can manage their storage needs efficiently and economically.
Wasabi offers flexible terms for contract renewal and cancellation, tailored to different pricing models:
Pay-As-You-Go: This model does not have a fixed subscription term, allowing customers to cancel their Wasabi account at any time without penalties. There is a 1 TB minimum monthly commitment, and users only pay for the storage they use.
Pay-As-You-Go Commit: Customers commit to a monthly storage amount over a 1, 3, or 5-year term. If the actual storage used exceeds the committed amount, the excess is charged at the agreed contract rate. This model also allows for cancellation, but terms may vary based on the length of the commitment.
Reserved Capacity Storage: This model involves purchasing a reserved amount of storage over a 1, 3, or 5-year term. It offers lower pricing compared to the Pay-As-You-Go model. Cancellation terms depend on the specific agreement, and there may be penalties for early termination.
For all models, Wasabi ensures no charges for API requests or data ingress, and no egress charges as long as the monthly egress amount is equal to or less than the amount of active storage in the account.
