StorONE

StorONE is a New York–based private company specializing in software-defined storage solutions for enterprise IT environments. Their platform is designed to unify multiple storage protocols (block, file, object) on a single software stack, delivering high performance, flexibility, and significant cost savings by abstracting hardware from software. StorONE focuses on eliminating data silo complexity in the data center and offers solutions suitable for both on-premises and multi-cloud deployments.

StorONE was founded in 2012 by Gal Naor (CEO) and Raz Gordon (CTO), both industry veterans—Naor notably founded Storwize, which IBM acquired in 2010. The company embarked on an eight-year R&D journey to rewrite the storage stack from the ground up, launching its enterprise-ready product suite after significant investment and development. By 2024, StorONE reported revenue of $3.1M with a team of around 37 employees, and it has received recognition for fast growth, with ambitions for a potential IPO.

StorONE has raised at least $30M in funding since inception. Notable investors include Glory Ventures (China) and Giza Venture Capital (Israel). While exact current valuations aren't public, the company raised a seed VC round as recently as 2017 and completed the acquisition of Storage Switzerland in 2020.

StorONE's primary offering is the ONE Enterprise Storage Platform, which:

• Unifies block, file, and object storage in a single system.

• Supports all deployment models: on-premises, cloud, and hybrid.

• Delivers both all-flash and hybrid configurations, leveraging advanced auto-tiering and AI-optimized data placement.

• Provides built-in data protection: snapshots, replication, deduplication, vRAID (for fast rebuilds), and ransomware resilience.

• Integrates enterprise features (real-time analytics, seamless scalability) with simple, unified management through a modern UI.

StorONE strategically expanded by acquiring Storage Switzerland, an industry analyst and content firm, in March 2020. This move brought founder George Crump onto the executive team to help expand their market reach and marketing capabilities, reflecting the company's focus on shaping industry perceptions and expertise.

Recent innovations (2024–2025) include:

• TierONE AI-enabled auto-tiering: Released in v3.9 (Feb 2025), this feature brings real-time, automated optimization of data placement, achieving near all-flash performance at tier-two costs, dramatically reducing storage spend for inactive data (cold/AI/archive).

• Improved NAS performance: Increases responsiveness for file services.

• Enhanced simplicity: Unified management, automated background tiering, and streamlined user workflows.

• ONEai (launching Q3 2025): The world’s first native AI-automated storage platform, integrating Phison’s aiDAPTIV+ for end-to-end automated LLM (large language model) training and inference within enterprise analytics. This is aimed at automated, large-scale data management and analytics.

StorONE’s culture is centered on:

• Results-oriented execution and transparency.

• A commitment to excellence and simple user experiences.

• Continuous innovation and integrity in partnerships.

• A strong focus on customer outcomes, as encapsulated in their motto “Think Results”.
The company also promotes safe, supportive working conditions and invests in continual staff training and professional development.

StorONE’s customer base includes large enterprises, research institutions, and service providers with demanding performance and data protection requirements. Their solutions are distributed globally (including recent partnerships in Italy), and the platform is recognized for reducing total cost of ownership (TCO) and operational complexity. StorONE has earned recognition from CRN’s “Storage 100” for innovative storage startups for several consecutive years and is respected for its customer support quality.
