ERM Libryo is a leading regulatory intelligence and compliance management software company that empowers organisations to navigate complex global EHS (Environmental, Health & Safety) and sustainability regulations with clarity and confidence. Founded in 2016 in London, Libryo’s mission is to ensure every organisation always knows its applicable law and what actions are required, streamlining compliance across all business locations and jurisdictions.
Libryo provides an automated cloud-based SaaS platform that filters, customises, and tracks unique site-specific legal registers—dubbed Libryo Streams®—for enterprises across diverse industries. Its solution is designed to transform legal requirements into clear, actionable tasks while automating compliance tracking, reporting, and updates. ERM Libryo operates as a key part of the Environmental Resources Management (ERM) group since its acquisition in 2022, leveraging ERM’s leadership in global sustainability consulting.
Founded by Peter Flynn, Garth Watson, and Malcolm Gray, Libryo initially gained strong validation and investor backing after its debut at WebSummit in 2015, then rapidly expanded from Africa and Europe to a global footprint. From inception, the company experienced fast product-market traction, signing global enterprise clients and delivering tailored compliance solutions across five continents.
Libryo has closed several funding rounds, including a $1 million seed round in 2021, bringing in institutional investors like Seedcamp, Nextlaw Lab, and Force Over Mass. As of June 2022, Libryo had secured over $613,100 in disclosed funding over five rounds for continued platform innovation and global reach.
Libryo’s platform uses AI-enhanced regulatory technology to deliver:
Real-time compliance tracking, notifications, and audit trails
Location- and activity-specific legal registers, updated automatically
Plain-language legal content with global coverage and built-in translation
AI-powered task generation and risk analysis for each user’s exact jurisdictional requirements
Seamless integration with EHS, GRC, and workflow management tools
In December 2022, ERM, the largest pure-play sustainability consultancy, acquired Libryo to enhance ERM’s digital sustainability and regulatory capabilities. This partnership has accelerated Libryo’s expansion into enterprise sustainability reporting, ESG analysis, and advanced digital integrations across sectors.
Recent innovation includes Libryo’s Action module, which leverages AI to generate site-specific compliance tasks and tailored action plans, replacing generic compliance suggestions with actionable, practical insights for each operation. The regulatory database is continuously expanded, and platform updates are regularly released to respond instantly to legal changes worldwide.
Libryo and ERM share a culture built on respect, collaboration, transparency, and a joint purpose: delivering measurable impact on sustainability and compliance. With a distributed, remote-first team, Libryo fosters a diverse, inclusive workplace and emphasizes customer-centric innovation, continuous learning, and ethical practice. Employees are encouraged to contribute ideas that drive climate action, regulatory certainty, and operational improvements globally.
Libryo serves more than 26,000 users across over 14,000 organizations and 900+ jurisdictions worldwide, supporting industries such as manufacturing, chemicals, energy, retail, and consulting. Enterprises of all sizes, from multinational giants like Unilever and Averda to high-growth firms, rely on Libryo for compliance confidence and operational efficiency. Its community values clarity, responsiveness, and a hands-on approach by Libryo’s expert support and legal teams.
