E-SIGN Act Compliance:
Dotloop's electronic signatures are fully compliant with the "Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act" (E-SIGN Act), a federal law that validates electronic signatures in transactions affecting interstate or foreign commerce. This ensures that electronic signatures and contracts in real estate transactions are legally binding and cannot be denied legal effects.
Audit Trails and Verification:
Dotloop goes beyond mere compliance by providing comprehensive and secure audit trials and verification processes. Every signature is certified and verified to include a unique signature ID, time and date, information about the signer, and the IP address from the signer's location. This ensures the authenticity and integrity of the signed documents.
Real-Time Collaboration:
The platform enables real-time collaboration, which is more secure than standard PDF signing solutions. It manages every version of the real estate transaction in one place, reducing the risk of document tampering and ensuring that all changes are logged and tracked at the field and document level.
Data Privacy and Security:
Dotloop has a robust data privacy policy that guarantees customers own their data and that it will not be used without their permission. This policy was reinforced with the Dotloop Data Privacy Guarantee introduced after its acquisition by Zillow Group.
The platform employs physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information collected online. This includes encryption of sensitive information such as credit card numbers using secure socket layer (SSL) technology.
Compliance with State and Federal Laws:
Dotloop ensures that its operations comply with both federal and state laws. The platform's eSignatures are binding in the United States and many other countries, if they meet compliance standards.
