argvis; GmbH is a specialized German software and consulting firm based in Walldorf, the global hub of SAP. The company focuses exclusively on the digitalization of maintenance and asset management processes within the SAP ecosystem. Over the years, argvis; has established itself as a niche leader by providing high-quality frontends that prioritize user experience (UX) over the complexity of the backend. Their primary offering, the argvis; Maintenance Portal, serves as a bridge between the field and the office, ensuring high data quality and worker productivity. The company serves a diverse client base across the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland), including major names like Smurfit Kappa, hanseWasser Bremen, and Perlen Papier AG. With a team of approximately 23 experts, argvis; maintains a boutique approach, offering personalized consulting alongside their software products to ensure each implementation meets the specific operational goals of the client.
The founding of argvis; is rooted in the extensive SAP consulting background of its CEO and founder, Philipp Reinhard. After earning his degree in electrical engineering in 2009 and working as a student trainee in SAP maintenance software, Reinhard became an independent consultant in 2012. A pivotal moment occurred in 2015 when he joined an international project on an oil platform in the Gulf of Mexico. The project required a custom SAP PM frontend capable of synchronizing data via satellite once a day—a challenge that sparked the idea for 'Disconnected Operations.' In 2017, the company was formally established in its current form in Walldorf. The early years involved critical projects for the German Federal Defense (Bundeswehr), developing SAP solutions for environments like submarines and remote bases in Mali. These high-stakes requirements for reliability and offline performance became the DNA of the argvis; Maintenance Portal, which was officially launched to the broader commercial market in early 2021.
argvis; GmbH is a privately held company that has largely grown through organic revenue and strategic service-led development. Unlike many Silicon Valley-style startups that rely on heavy venture capital rounds, argvis; operates on a sustainable business model common in the German 'Mittelstand' software sector. The initial development of its core technology was funded through high-value consulting contracts and specialized development projects for large organizations like the Bundeswehr. This approach has allowed the company to maintain full control over its product roadmap and prioritize customer-requested features over investor-driven metrics. While specific private investment details are not public, the company's steady growth, team expansion to over 20 employees, and consistent acquisition of enterprise-level clients indicate a strong financial foundation built on product profitability.
The argvis; product lineup is centered around the Maintenance Portal, which is divided into a web-based management dashboard and native mobile apps for iOS and Android. Beyond the base portal, the company offers a suite of integrated 'Add-ons' that expand its capabilities into full-scale Maintenance Management. Key offerings include the 'Checklistengenerator' for digitizing safety and inspection rounds, the 'Plantafel' for human resource and equipment dispatching, and the 'Wartungskalender' for a visual overview of asset lifecycles. One of their most distinctive offerings is the 'Ursachenanalyse' (Cause Analysis) module, which facilitates systematic problem-solving (e.g., using 5-Why or Ishikawa methods) directly within the SAP environment. Additionally, argvis; provides professional services including SAP PM optimization workshops, technical ABAP/OData development, and specialized training programs for maintenance personnel.
Historically, argvis; has focused its growth on the DACH region (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland), capitalizing on the dense population of SAP-using manufacturing and utility companies in these countries. 2024 marked a significant milestone with the acquisition of their first major customer in Austria, expanding their footprint beyond their core German and Swiss markets. The company's expansion strategy is built on a partner network of maintenance experts and direct sales efforts. Regionally, their presence is anchored in Walldorf, but their software is deployed internationally through the global operations of their clients, such as the Swiss-based Bachmann Group. While they do not currently maintain satellite offices in the GCC or Asia, their 'Disconnected Operations' history with the Bundeswehr and global oil firms proves their capability to support expansion into geographically challenging markets worldwide.
argvis; maintains a rapid release cadence, frequently adding new capabilities based on the 'argvis; Club' user feedback. In 2024 and 2025, the company introduced significant updates to its mobile app architecture, transitioning to newer frameworks like .NET MAUI for improved performance. The standout new feature of late 2024 is the enhanced 'Ursachenanalyse' (Cause Analysis) module, which was integrated with Microsoft Teams for collaborative troubleshooting. This module allows teams to track measures and sustainability improvements in real-time. Another recent addition is the 'Maintenance Club,' a community-driven initiative that allows users to co-innovate on new features. They also recently updated the 'Checklistengenerator' to support more complex logic and multimedia-guided inspections, alongside expanding their AI-supported predictive maintenance pilots in collaboration with technology partners.
The culture at argvis; is defined by its Walldorf roots—a blend of high-tech SAP expertise and a down-to-earth, practitioner-focused work environment. The company describes itself as a team of 'doers' who take 'outcome responsibility' for their projects. With a relatively flat hierarchy and a team size of around 23, there is a strong emphasis on cross-functional collaboration between developers and consultants. The company values long-term relationships over quick sales, which is reflected in their 'all-in' pricing and extensive post-go-live support. Their work environment is modern and flexible, supporting hybrid models, while their social initiatives, like the annual 'conquering of Burg Frankenstein' summer fest, foster a tight-knit community. The leadership encourages a culture of innovation where even junior developers are involved in architecting solutions for high-stakes clients like the military.
Community engagement is a core pillar of the argvis; strategy, exemplified by the launch of the 'argvis; Club' in November 2024. This exclusive user group brings together maintenance managers, SAP coordinators, and technicians from their client base to share best practices and influence the product roadmap. The first meeting in Walldorf included interactive workshops where users collaboratively brainstormed the future of the Maintenance Portal. Additionally, argvis; maintains an active presence on professional networks like LinkedIn and Xing, where they frequently post educational content about SAP PM optimization. They also participate heavily in industry conferences like 'maintenance Dortmund' and 'SAP-Infotag für die Instandhaltung,' where they demonstrate their solutions and engage with the broader maintenance and reliability community in Europe.
