Types of Updates

• Updates: These are build-level improvements within the same version (e.g., AccountEdge 2023 → AccountEdge 2023 Build 34).

AccountEdge follows a local data ownership model, meaning you own and control your data stored in your company file.

Data Ownership

• Your company file is stored locally on your computer or server.
• You are responsible for managing, backing up, and securing your data.

• AccountEdge does not host or access your data remotely unless you use AccountEdge Hosted or Connect.

Data Portability

• You can export data from AccountEdge in various formats:
  • CSV, Excel, and tab-delimited files
  • Reports, transactions, and lists (e.g., customers, vendors, inventory)

• You can import data from other platforms like QuickBooks or Sage using built-in tools.

Cloud Storage Warning

• AccountEdge strongly discourages storing live company files on cloud-sync services like Dropbox, iCloud, or OneDrive.

• This can lead to data corruption if multiple users access the file simultaneously, causing version conflicts.

Backup & Recovery

• Users are advised to:
  • Use AccountEdge’s built-in backup tools.
  • Maintain multiple backup strategies.
  • Avoid relying solely on automated cloud backups. [File Secur...ccountEdge]
