tebio

tebio GmbH is a German software company headquartered in Düsseldorf, specializing in the development of cloud-native subscription and billing solutions. Positioned as a specialized player in the 'Made in Germany' software ecosystem, tebio focuses on providing high-security, GDPR-compliant infrastructure for companies transitioning to recurring revenue models.

The company serves a diverse range of industries, including IoT, media, SaaS, and fitness sectors, by offering a platform that combines the ease of a no-code portal with the power of a developer-first API. Its strategic vision centers on democratizing enterprise-grade billing automation for the mid-market, ensuring that growing companies have the tools to handle complex pricing and multi-level sales structures without technical friction.

tebio was established as a strategic spin-off by the team behind mvneco GmbH, a veteran provider of backend systems with over 15 years of experience in the European market. The founding vision was to take the robust, high-transaction billing technology used at the enterprise level and re-package it into an accessible, cloud-ready platform for small and medium-sized companies. Led by Managing Director Wolfgang Kohl, the team leveraged their experience handling over 1 billion transactions annually to build tebio from the ground up as a modern, API-first solution. The company was officially registered as tebio GmbH in Düsseldorf, maintaining its headquarters at Oberbilker Allee 165 to remain at the heart of Germany's growing tech corridor.

tebio is currently a privately held company. Much of its early development was supported through the established resources and technical heritage of its sister company, mvneco GmbH. This 'internal incubation' model allowed tebio to reach a high level of product maturity before launching to the broader market without the immediate pressure of external VC funding. While the company has not publicly disclosed any major outside investment rounds as of late 2024, its steady growth and the scalability of its infrastructure (hosting 3 million active users across the parent group) suggest a strong financial foundation built on existing enterprise service revenue and increasing SaaS subscription growth.

The tebio platform is divided into several core modules that can be configured to meet specific business needs. The Subscription Management module handles plan definitions, trial periods, and lifecycle automation. The Billing and Invoicing module automates document generation and payment processing via integrations with Stripe, PayPal, and Klarna. The Hosted Pages module provides a no-code front-end for customer checkouts and self-care. Advanced modules include 'Sales-Partner' for managing affiliate networks and 'Partner Billing' for automated commission payouts. Additionally, the KYC (Know Your Customer) module offers identity verification services, while the Multi-Tenancy feature allows large organizations to run separate instances for different brands or subsidiaries.

tebio’s expansion strategy is firmly rooted in the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) and the wider European market. By emphasizing 'Made in Germany' quality and 100% GDPR compliance, the company has successfully expanded into sectors that are sensitive to data location, such as industrial IoT and media publishing.

Geographic expansion has been supported by localization efforts, offering the platform in both German and English, and integrating European payment methods like SEPA and Klarna. The company has also expanded its product reach by targeting specific verticals like gym management and subscription-based manufacturing, positioning itself as a reliable regional alternative to major US-based billing platforms.

Over the past 12-18 months, tebio has introduced several key enhancements to its platform. A major focus has been the refinement of the 'No-Code' Business Portal, allowing non-technical users to manage complex discounts and product dependencies through a simple UI. Recent updates have also improved the KYC module, adding automated document screening to speed up contract execution. The API has seen significant version updates (current v1.15.0 context) to include more robust webhooks for real-time integration with external ERP systems. Furthermore, tebio has enhanced its multi-tenancy capabilities, enabling enterprises to maintain strict data separation across global business units while retaining centralized administrative control.

The culture at tebio is defined by a commitment to German engineering standards—reliability, precision, and security. As a customer-centric organization, the company prioritizes tailored solutions and personal approach over mass-market generic offerings. The work environment reflects a blend of a seasoned enterprise-backend firm (mvneco) and an agile SaaS startup, fostering an atmosphere where technical excellence is balanced with continuous innovation. Values like responsibility for long-term customer success and transparency in communication are central to their operational philosophy. The company maintains a professional but collaborative culture, focusing on sustainable growth and the long-term reliability of its infrastructure.

tebio engages with its user community primarily through its developer portal, LinkedIn presence, and its official blog, which provides insights into subscription best practices and billing automation trends. The company offers a 'Developer Section' within its portal that serves as a hub for API documentation and technical resources. While it does not host a massive public forum, it maintains a close-knit ecosystem of partners and distributors who utilize the 'Partner Portal' features. tebio also provides regular resources on compliance topics like IFRS 15 and GDPR, positioning itself as a thought leader in the European subscription economy for professional services and industrial sectors.
