SkyTab POS employs multiple layers of security to safeguard business and customer data:
Data Ownership:
With SkyTab POS, merchants retain responsibility and control over their business data. You are expected to store, back up, and secure all data generated and stored on your POS equipment. The provider does not claim ownership of your business data, but also does not assume liability for any data loss or destruction. This means you have full access to your data, but you are also responsible for its protection and retention.
Data Portability:
There is no formal, automated process specified for exporting or transferring your data to another system. However, since you are responsible for your own data, you should ensure you maintain regular backups in formats that can be exported or migrated if needed. This practice will make it easier to transition your data in the event you change systems or end your service.
Scaling Up:
SkyTab POS is designed to easily accommodate business growth. You can add new POS terminals, mobile devices, or even new business locations with minimal disruption. The system’s cloud-based nature allows for quick expansion, remote management, and integration with other business tools as needed.
Scaling Down:
If you need to reduce the number of devices or locations, review your service agreement for any minimum contract terms or required notice periods. Typically, you may need to provide advance notice and possibly return any leased equipment. Be sure to check for any contractual obligations related to scaling down or terminating services.
Initial Contract Term:
The standard agreement for SkyTab POS begins on your installation date and typically runs for 30 months as the initial term.
Automatic Renewal:
After the initial 30-month period, your contract automatically renews for additional one-year terms. To avoid renewal, you must provide written notice of your intent not to renew at least 30 days before the current term ends.
Cancellation Before Installation:
You can cancel the agreement for any reason before the system is installed. All equipment must be returned within 60 days of cancellation, and shipping labels are provided to assist with the return.
Cancellation After Installation:
If you cancel after installation but before your contract ends, you must return all equipment in good condition. Early termination fees may apply, and you are responsible for any costs associated with returning the equipment. Any outstanding fees or charges may be debited from your account upon cancellation.
Cancellation Due to Provider Default:
You have the right to terminate the agreement if the provider fails to meet a significant obligation and does not resolve the issue within 30 days after receiving your written notice.
Inactivity Fee:
If you stop using the payment processing service during your contract, an inactivity fee of $75 per terminal may be charged for every 30-day period of non-use, in addition to regular fees.
Fee Changes:
The provider can change contract terms, conditions, and fees with 30 days’ written notice. If you continue using the system after the change, it is considered acceptance of the new terms.
Annual Program Fee:
There is a non-waivable annual program fee of $199 per terminal ID, up to two terminal IDs per merchant account.
Data Plan Fee:
If you use the SkyTab 4G LTE data plan, there is a monthly fee per device, with possible surcharges for high data usage.
PCI DSS Compliance:
SkyTab POS complies with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard, which is required for any business handling credit card transactions.
PCI Level 1 Certification:
The payment processor behind SkyTab meets the highest level of PCI compliance, providing strict security for payment processing.
Point-to-Point Encryption (P2PE):
SkyTab uses PCI-validated point-to-point encryption, ensuring that payment data is encrypted from the moment it is entered, keeping sensitive information out of the merchant’s environment.
Tokenization:
All payment data is tokenized, further protecting cardholder information from theft or misuse.
EMV Compliance:
The system supports EMV chip card transactions, adding a layer of security for in-person payments.
Secure Mobile Wallet Acceptance:
SkyTab POS supports secure payments through mobile wallets, including Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay.
