SimScale
By SimScale
Simscale typical implementation process:
Initial requirements assessment: Users identify project requirements, simulation goals, and relevant team members. This ensures the right modules and integrations are available from the start.
Account setup and onboarding: Organizations or users register for a SimScale account, select the right subscription plan, and are oriented via onboarding resources, tutorials, and expert-led demos.
Integration and model import: Teams connect SimScale to their CAD/PLM tools and import geometry or models into the browser-based platform using supported formats.
Simulation configuration: Users or engineers set up simulation parameters, define physics, mesh the model, and leverage Engineering AI or prebuilt templates to accelerate best practices.
Validation and iterative testing: Initial simulations are run, results are analyzed in the integrated 3D environment, and parameters are fine-tuned for accurate validation.
Collaboration and workflow optimization: Multiple users can collaborate in real time. Versioning, feedback, and role-based permissions are assigned for a secure workflow.
SimScale can be customized extensively to meet specific business needs, offering flexibility at multiple layers of its platform.
Users and organizations can create custom simulation templates for recurring design problems, streamlining setup time and maintaining workflow consistency across teams or product lines.
Custom materials and libraries can be defined and managed for unique engineering scenarios, allowing manual entry or editing of proprietary physical properties to supplement SimScale's built-in database.
The platform supports tailored simulation parameters, boundary conditions, solver selections, and analysis types, letting users adapt simulations to their proprietary company design standards.
Through API access, businesses can automate, script, and integrate SimScale workflows directly into higher-level engineering management systems, PLM stacks, or custom digital pipelines.
Collaboration features—such as dedicated team workspaces, admin controls, resource allocation, and role/permission management—enable organizations to customize how users interact, structure teams, and secure projects according to internal governance requirements.
Continuous integration via enterprise connectors (e.g., CAD apps, nTop, Violet Labs) means organizations can bring in proprietary models and tie live engineering data directly into simulations, enabling company-specific project and data management strategies.
Visualization, reporting, analytics dashboards, and disk storage settings for simulations can be customized for advanced analyses, workflow efficiency, and compliance with enterprise needs.
SimScale offers a onboarding ecosystem for new users that blends in‑app guidance and expert support with self‑paced tutorials, webinars, and a structured learning center to accelerate proficiency from day one. Resources span step‑by‑step guides, public project templates, community forums, and certification‑oriented learning paths for CFD and FEA to support both beginners and advanced engineers.
SimScale employs a multi-layer security program that includes SOC 2 Type II certification, encryption of data in transit and at rest, strict access controls, and dedicated security operations to protect CAD models, simulation results, and account information. These controls are reinforced by AWS-hosted, closed-network processing, continuous monitoring, and audited practices designed to preserve the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of customer data.
SimScale releases updates frequently, following a continuous delivery approach to ensure users always have access to the latest features, security enhancements, and bug fixes. Updates can occur as often as several times per month, covering everything from new simulation capabilities and solver improvements to UI enhancements and integrations. Because SimScale is fully cloud-based, all software updates are managed centrally and applied automatically—users do not need to install patches or manually upgrade their software. New features and improvements become instantly available to all users as soon as they are released, reducing downtime and eliminating compatibility issues common with desktop software. Release notes and product update announcements are published to inform users of significant changes, and enterprise customers can coordinate with SimScale support for update management or workflow impact assessment if needed.
SimScale policy ensures that users retain ownership of their project data, simulation models, and CAD files throughout all phases of their work. All uploaded files, simulation configurations, and results remain the intellectual property of the user or organization, with no transfer of ownership to SimScale or third parties unless explicitly agreed otherwise.
When it comes to data portability, SimScale provides flexible options for exporting and migrating engineering assets. Users can download simulation results, CAD models, post-processing visualizations, and export data in standard industry formats, enabling easy transfer into other tools, archiving, or backup workflows. These export capabilities apply to both private and team projects, and organizations can automate export pipelines using the SimScale API for integration with enterprise PLM or external storage solutions.
SimScale’s contract renewal and cancellation terms are designed for flexibility, transparency, and minimal lock-in.
Standard subscription agreements run for twelve months and automatically renew for another twelve-month term unless you opt out before renewal.
You can cancel anytime via your account dashboard; the subscription simply doesn’t renew at the end of the current term. Usage continues until the period already paid for expires.
Termination for convenience is allowed but takes effect at the end of the subscription period, with a required four weeks’ advance notice before the next renewal; there’s no immediate termination for convenience before the end of the period.
Either party can terminate immediately for “good cause,” such as material breach not cured within 30 days, late payment over 45 days, violation of use restrictions, or insolvency.
For sixty days after a plan downgrades or an account ends, customers can create backup copies of content; SimScale may delete or restrict access following this window, but may retain content for future service reactivation.
In case of service malfunction not remedied within 30 days of written notice, customers may terminate and are eligible for a pro-rata refund of unused, prepaid fees.
All collaborators must have paid accounts for simulation execution, but visitors who only need to review projects are free.
SimScale adheres to leading international compliance standards, prioritizing data security, privacy, and regulatory assurance for enterprise and engineering customers. The platform is certified SOC 2 Type II, demonstrating it has undergone independent third-party audits of its internal controls related to security, availability, confidentiality, and privacy. SOC 2 Type II attestation confirms that SimScale not only sets up robust policies and procedures, but also operates them continuously over time to safeguard user data and system integrity.
Alongside SOC 2 certification, SimScale’s cloud service is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS), benefiting from the underlying provider’s own compliance with ISO 27001, ISO 9001, and other industry-recognized security standards, reinforcing strong controls for physical, network, and access security.
