ProLeiT GmbH, headquartered in Herzogenaurach, Germany, is a leading provider of process control technology, automation solutions, and process control systems with integrated MES (Manufacturing Execution System) functions. The company serves global players in the brewing, beverage, food, bakery, dairy, pharmaceutical, and chemical industries, offering both turnkey automation projects and proprietary system platforms, notably Plant iT and brewmaxx. ProLeiT’s solutions are recognized for their ability to provide full vertical integration from the control level up to corporate management (ERP), ensuring end-to-end transparency and optimization of production processes.
Founded in 1986, ProLeiT has evolved from a medium-sized IT company into a global automation leader. The company’s focus on industry-specific solutions and continuous technical innovation has driven its expansion. Today, ProLeiT’s systems are used in over 2,500 production facilities across more than 110 countries. Its workforce has grown to over 600 employees, comprising experts in engineering, software development, and industry-specific domains.
ProLeiT has followed a path of organic growth, supported by strategic refinancing. In 2009, it secured mezzanine funding to strengthen its international expansion and improve its credit rating. In August 2020, ProLeiT was acquired by Schneider Electric, a global leader in energy management and automation, which has further enhanced its financial stability and market reach. The company’s estimated annual revenue is approximately $278.4 million, with a strong revenue per employee ratio, reflecting high operational efficiency.
ProLeiT’s flagship products are Plant iT and brewmaxx, modular process control and MES platforms designed for the process industry. Plant iT stands out for its object-oriented, PLC-based architecture, integrated MES functionality, and a philosophy of “parameterisation instead of programming.” Key features include a central engineering environment, standard libraries of process graphics, extensive module libraries, recipe management, energy management, and comprehensive reporting and traceability tools. The platform is hardware-agnostic, supporting controllers from Siemens, Rockwell Automation, and others, and is scalable from small plants to large, multi-site operations.
The most significant milestone in ProLeiT’s history was its acquisition by Schneider Electric in 2020. This partnership has enabled deeper integration with Schneider’s EcoStruxure Plant platform and AVEVA software, expanding ProLeiT’s reach and enhancing its digital transformation capabilities for customers. The company has also expanded its product portfolio with new modules, such as maintenance management and web portals, and has entered new markets through strategic partnerships, like the recent collaboration with Au2mate for brewery and beverage automation.
Recent product updates have focused on usability, integration, and Industry 4.0 readiness. The latest Plant iT version supports Schneider’s EcoStruxure Automation Expert, introduces new navigation concepts, improved process graphics, and enhanced operating dialogues. The Line Management System (LMS) now offers real-time error analysis, OEE & KPI visualization, and mobile accessibility. These innovations ensure Plant iT remains at the forefront of automation technology.
ProLeiT emphasizes continuous improvement, innovation, and customer value. The company fosters a collaborative environment, bringing together engineers, computer scientists, process technologists, and industry specialists. Diversity, inclusion, and talent development are core values, as evidenced by initiatives to inspire young talent, particularly women, to pursue careers in technology. ProLeiT’s mission is to generate maximum value for customers through advanced systems, a skilled workforce, and a commitment to quality and sustainability.
ProLeiT serves a diverse, global user base, including leading manufacturers in food, beverage, dairy, pharmaceuticals, and chemicals. Its solutions are deployed in over 2,500 facilities worldwide. The company maintains strong relationships with OEMs, system integrators, and end-users, offering comprehensive support, training, and a 24-hour hotline. ProLeiT also invests in community-building through its Academy, partnerships, and outreach programs, ensuring users are equipped to maximize the value of its solutions.
