Giftbit is a leading digital rewards and incentive distribution platform that enables businesses to send, manage, and track digital gift cards and prepaid cards globally. As a B2B aggregator, Giftbit streamlines the process of delivering rewards from hundreds of brands to employees, customers, partners, and research participants. The company operates with a focus on transparency, automation, and flexibility, offering both a user-friendly platform and a robust API for seamless integration into existing business workflows.
Giftbit was founded in 2011 in Canada by Leif Baradoy and Peter Locke. The idea emerged from a practical observation of inefficiencies in the gift card market, particularly the prevalence of unused cards and the lack of transparency in tracking and managing incentives. Since its inception, Giftbit has powered millions of rewards for organizations of all sizes and now operates out of both Canada and the United States. The company has grown steadily, expanding its catalog and global reach, and is currently led by CEO Leif Baradoy along with a seasoned executive team.
Giftbit has raised funding through a combination of angel and venture capital investments. According to available data, the company has raised at least $120,000 over two funding rounds, with investors including Founders’ Co-op and Techstars. Some sources suggest total funding may be higher, up to $3.1 million.
Giftbit’s platform provides access to nearly 1,000 gift card brands and international prepaid cards, including options from major retailers and charitable organizations. Key features include bulk and individual reward sending, detailed tracking and reporting, customization and branding, and a developer-friendly API for automation. The platform supports global distribution, allowing rewards to be sent and redeemed in over 100 countries. Giftbit’s transparent, pay-as-you-go pricing model, the ability to reclaim funds from unclaimed cards, and integration with popular business tools like Salesforce and HubSpot further enhance its appeal.
Giftbit has consistently expanded its product offerings and catalog. Recent updates include the launch of a global prepaid Mastercard, expanded catalog options in Europe, Asia-Pacific, and India, and enhanced automation features. The company also partners with payment technology providers like Marqeta to improve card issuance and fulfillment capabilities.
Giftbit regularly updates its platform with new features to improve usability, security, and reporting. Recent enhancements include upgraded recipient reporting, advanced security and authentication options (such as multi-factor authentication), improved user interface, and direct debit funding. The platform also added a status page, automated inactive account processes, and expanded catalog search and navigation capabilities.
Giftbit is known for its strong, values-driven culture, guided by eight core cultural principles that emphasize transparency, empowerment, collaboration, and continuous learning. The company operates as a remote-friendly organization, primarily across the Pacific Northwest, and fosters an environment that balances autonomy with teamwork. Employee testimonials highlight opportunities for professional growth, flexibility, and a supportive leadership team that prioritizes both personal and professional development.
Giftbit serves a diverse clientele ranging from startups to large enterprises, including well-known brands such as Netflix, Red Bull, Shopify, and Gusto. The platform is widely used for employee recognition, customer engagement, marketing incentives, and research participation rewards. Clients consistently praise Giftbit for its ease of use, flexibility, customer support, and the ability to recoup funds from unredeemed rewards. The company’s commitment to customer satisfaction is reflected in high approval ratings and a strong reputation for innovation and reliability.
