Ease of Use & Accessibility: This is the most praised feature. It's very simple for both providers and patients to use. Patients do not need to download or install any software—they simply click a personalized link in their browser to enter a virtual waiting room.
HIPAA Compliance & Security: Doxy.me is highly valued for being a secure, compliant platform, meeting standards like HIPAA, which is essential for healthcare providers. A Business Associate Agreement (BAA) is often included even with the free plan.
Free Tier Availability: The free version is considered generous, offering unlimited call minutes and HIPAA compliance, making it a viable and affordable option for small or new practices.
Simple, Static Waiting Room: Providers appreciate the virtual waiting room and the ability to use one consistent, static, and personalized URL for all patients, which simplifies the process for repeat clients.
Reliable for Basic Sessions: For simple, one-on-one video/audio conversations, Doxy.me is often described as reliable, consistent, and "good enough" for essential telehealth needs.
Connection & Technical Glitches: The most frequent complaint is occasional instability, including lagging, freezing, video quality drops, or audio issues. These problems are often linked to poor internet connection speed on either the provider or client side, or the platform's peer-to-peer architecture.
Customer Support Response Time: Some users report that customer service, particularly chat or email support, can be slow, sometimes requiring a wait of 12 to 24 hours for a detailed reply.
