Bubble
By Bubble Group, Inc.
Bubble is a pioneering no-code development platform founded in 2012 by Emmanuel Straschnov and Josh Haas in New York. It enables users to build fully functional web and mobile applications through a visual drag-and-drop interface without requiring programming skills. This democratization of app development has attracted a diverse user base ranging from non-technical entrepreneurs and startups to advanced users and businesses seeking rapid prototyping and scalable solutions.
The company’s origin story is rooted in a serendipitous meeting between the founders, which led to a shared vision of transforming software development. For its first seven years, Bubble was entirely bootstrapped, focusing on community-driven product development and iteratively expanding its capabilities based on user feedback. The platform launched publicly in 2015 and steadily grew its user base by empowering individuals to create complex, data-driven applications without code. By 2019, Bubble raised its first seed funding round of $6 million from investors including SignalFire and notable tech founders, enabling it to expand its team and accelerate development. In 2021, Bubble secured a $100 million Series A round led by Insight Partners, marking a significant milestone that fueled rapid scaling, doubling engineering staff, and broadening its market reach.
Bubble’s funding journey reflects its transition from a scrappy startup to a well-capitalized company with ambitious growth plans. The $100 million Series A round positioned Bubble as a leader in the no-code space, supporting product innovation and infrastructure scaling.
Bubble’s core product is its visual programming platform that combines a drag-and-drop UI builder, a powerful workflow engine for app logic, and an integrated database system. It supports user authentication, API integrations, payment processing, and real-time data updates, enabling the creation of complex applications such as marketplaces, social networks, and SaaS products. The platform offers pixel-perfect design control and responsive layouts, setting it apart from simpler no-code tools. Bubble also maintains a rich plugin ecosystem that extends functionality with AI, analytics, and third-party services. Hosting, security, and scalability are managed by Bubble’s cloud infrastructure, allowing apps to grow seamlessly from prototypes to production-ready solutions.
Bubble” is also associated with Bubble Agency, a global technology PR and marketing firm that recently expanded through the acquisition of HighRez, a marketing agency specializing in physical security and media technology sectors. This acquisition broadens Bubble Agency’s expertise and geographic presence, particularly on the U.S. East Coast, although it operates separately from the Bubble no-code platform company.
Bubble continually evolves its platform, recently introducing an AI-powered app builder that enables users to generate functional MVPs by simply describing their app idea in natural language. The workflow editor has been modernized with improved navigation, folder organization, and collaboration tools. Mobile functionalities have expanded to include swipe actions, camera access, push notifications, and OAuth login support. These enhancements reflect Bubble’s commitment to making app development faster, more intuitive, and accessible to a wider audience.
At its core, Bubble is driven by values of innovation, user-centricity, empowerment, collaboration, and integrity. The company fosters a culture that prioritizes transparency, ethical practices, and deep engagement with its community. It emphasizes empowering users by lowering technical barriers and continuously incorporating user feedback into product development. Collaboration is central, both internally among team members and externally with its global user base, creating a vibrant ecosystem of creators and developers.
Bubble boasts over one million users worldwide, including entrepreneurs, startups, agencies, and enterprises. Its community is highly active, contributing plugins, templates, tutorials, and support through forums and events like BubbleCon. The platform has become a hub for no-code innovation, with many users successfully launching startups or scaling businesses built entirely on Bubble. The company also celebrates the success of its users, many of whom have raised funding rounds or achieved significant market traction using Bubble-built apps.
