aiio GmbH, formerly known as Lintra plus GmbH, is a specialized software manufacturer based in Magdeburg, Germany. With roots stretching back over 20 years, the company underwent a strategic realignment in 2022 to focus on AI-native organizational management. The company's mission is to make 'Organizational Intelligence' accessible to every employee through a lean, innovative, and deeply collaborative platform. Today, aiio GmbH serves a prestigious client base of over 200 companies, including global giants like ThyssenKrupp, Volkswagen, and ABB. The company differentiates itself through its 'Lean BPM' philosophy and its status as a Microsoft Gold Partner, ensuring that its technology is always at the forefront of the M365 ecosystem. By rebranding to aiio (meaning 'AI Improves Organization'), the company has positioned itself as a leader in the intersection of traditional process management and modern artificial intelligence.
The company was originally founded in 2007 as Lintra, focusing on SharePoint-based solutions for process documentation. In 2022, Lintra plus GmbH was spun off and realigned as aiio GmbH to specifically develop and market the AI-native aiio platform. The leadership team, led by CEO Dr. Christian Graup, COO Knut Köchli, and CMO Jobst von Heintze, brings together over 120 years of collective experience in business software. The founding vision was born out of the frustration with traditional 'ivory tower' BPM tools that failed to gain traction among everyday employees. The founders sought to create a tool that was as easy to use as a consumer app while maintaining the rigor required for ISO certifications, eventually evolving into the world's first AI-native Process Intelligence Platform.
aiio GmbH has followed a hybrid funding strategy, combining organic growth, venture capital, and regional innovation grants. In June 2024, the company successfully closed a Series A funding round led by investors including Apricum Capital and Synerleap (ABB's startup accelerator). This round was aimed at scaling their 'Agentic Process Intelligence' capabilities and expanding their European market presence. Additionally, the company has been a beneficiary of the 'DIGITAL CREATIVITY' funding program from the state of Sachsen-Anhalt and various EU innovation grants, which supported the R&D for their proprietary AI 'Process Vacuum Cleaner' technology. These investments have allowed aiio to remain competitive against larger incumbents while maintaining a lean, fast-moving development culture.
aiio GmbH provides two primary product lines: Quam® and aiio®. Quam is an established, feature-rich BPM system designed for classic, detailed modeling on SharePoint, suitable for organizations with complex, interconnected regulatory structures. aiio is the newer, AI-native platform designed for rapid, collaborative organizational design with a 'low-threshold' entry point. Within the aiio platform, the company offers modular capabilities including the 'AI Copilot' for optimization, 'Agentic Process Intelligence' for automated document ingestion, and 'Digital Process Recording' for decentralized knowledge capture. They also offer 'meimo,' a tool integrated for broader organizational intelligence. These offerings are complemented by 'aiio Services,' which provide premium training workshops and personalized implementation consulting.
While deeply rooted in the German 'Mittelstand' and the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland), aiio has rapidly expanded its geographic footprint across Europe. Following its successful launch at the 'Control 2022' trade fair in Stuttgart, the company has actively participated in international summits like the PzM Summit in Vienna to drive adoption in the Austrian market. Their strategic partnership with Synerleap has opened doors to international enterprise accounts, particularly in the industrial and manufacturing sectors. The company's platform is fully localized in English and German, with a roadmap focused on further European language support and establishing a stronger presence in the UK and Northern European markets, leveraging its Microsoft Gold Partnership for global cloud-based distribution.
In the last 18 months, aiio has introduced several groundbreaking features centered on 'Agentic AI.' The most notable is the 'AI Process Vacuum Cleaner,' an automated ingestion engine that transforms document chaos from SharePoint and Confluence into BPMN models in under five minutes. They have also rolled out 'Agent-Based Change Tracking,' which uses AI to monitor and report on organizational shifts automatically. Recent updates include enhanced Microsoft Power BI integration for real-time process performance dashboards and 'meimo' connectivity for advanced organizational metrics. Furthermore, the aiio Copilot has been upgraded to provide neutral, data-driven optimization suggestions that help managers identify bottlenecks without manual auditing, representing a significant leap toward self-optimizing organizational systems.
The company culture at aiio is defined by the slogan 'Enjoy the Process.' It reflects a commitment to making work easier and more transparent for everyone involved. Headquartered in the Klausenerstraße innovation hub in Magdeburg, the team of over 30 employees operates in an agile, passion-driven environment that balances German engineering precision with the speed of a modern SaaS startup. They emphasize 'empowerment'—both for their own employees and their users—believing that the best improvements come from those who are 'affected' by the processes. The leadership maintains a flat hierarchy and a strong focus on innovation, often offering the software for free to other startups to foster a broader ecosystem of intelligent organizations.
aiio fosters a growing community through the 'aiio Academy,' an extensive online learning platform that replaces traditional manuals with bite-sized video tutorials. This community-centric approach is supported by regular 'Expert Consultations' and appearances at major industry events like the 'All about Process Management' summit. The company also maintains a 'Feature Newsletter' that keeps 'Process Champions' updated on the latest AI advancements. While they do not have a traditional public forum, their user-driven 'Organizational Crowd Mining' methodology creates an internal community within client organizations where feedback loops and collaborative design are part of the daily routine. Their partnership ecosystem also connects users with specialized BPM consultants for regional support.
