Zamp is a high-growth fintech company positioned as the first 'managed' sales tax platform for the modern e-commerce and SaaS era. Headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, the company was established to bridge the gap between automated software tools and the manual labor traditionally handled by expensive SALT consultants. Zamp’s mission is to 'reclaim time' for founders and finance leaders by completely offloading the administrative burden of sales tax compliance. The company has distinguished itself by focusing heavily on customer experience, earning G2 awards for 'Best Support' and 'Easiest to Use.' In a market crowded with legacy providers, Zamp has carved out a niche by serving the $1M to $100M revenue segment with a solution that combines the speed of an API-first technology stack with the reliability of attorney-led tax research. Their strategic vision involves building an 'invisible' compliance layer that handles the entire lifecycle of tax obligations automatically as a business expands into new jurisdictions.
Zamp was founded in late 2022 and officially launched in 2023 by Rohit Bhadange, who serves as the company's CEO. Bhadange brought a unique background to the tax space, having spent years on Wall Street in private equity and venture capital. His experience evaluating high-growth e-commerce and SaaS businesses revealed a recurring 'pain point': the massive operational drag of post-Wayfair sales tax compliance. He observed that even 'automated' tools left significant manual work for his portfolio companies, leading to audit risks and wasted executive time. Bhadange's vision was to create a solution where a founder could simply 'set it and forget it.' He teamed up with tax industry veterans and software engineers to build the 'managed' model that defines Zamp today. Within its first 15 months, the company scaled remarkably fast, reaching mid-seven-figure annual recurring revenue (ARR) and growing a team of over 30 professionals, including several SALT attorneys who lead the platform's core tax logic and research functions.
Zamp has raised a total of approximately $14 million in funding to date. The company’s growth was accelerated by a $10 million Series A round announced in late 2024 (specifically October 2024). This round was led by Valor Equity Partners, an investment firm known for backing high-growth, technology-driven companies like SpaceX and Tesla. Prior to the Series A, Zamp raised roughly $4 million in Seed funding (late 2022/early 2023) from a group of strategic investors and angel investors with expertise in the e-commerce and fintech sectors. These capital injections have been primarily used to expand the engineering team, refine the AI-driven filing automation, and grow the internal tax research department. The backing by a top-tier firm like Valor Equity Partners is seen as a strong validation of Zamp's unique 'managed solution' approach in a competitive market.
Zamp offers two primary product lines designed to simplify sales tax for different segments. The core offering is the Managed Sales Tax Solution, which is a full-service platform for direct-to-consumer (DTC) brands and SaaS companies. This includes the Zamp Dashboard, a powerful API for calculation, and a comprehensive service package where Zamp handles registrations, nexus tracking, and filings. The second major offering is Z-Tax, a specialized 'white-label' product launched in September 2024 for accounting firms, fractional CFOs, and CPAs. Z-Tax allows these professional services firms to offer Zamp's managed compliance to their own clients under their own brand, effectively turning a complex liability into a recurring revenue stream for the practice. Both offerings are built on the same underlying infrastructure: an attorney-vetted tax engine that provides rooftop-accurate rates across all 50 US states and 13,000 local jurisdictions.
Zamp is currently focused exclusively on the US market, providing comprehensive coverage for all 45 states that collect sales tax, plus Washington D.C. and thousands of local jurisdictions (including complex 'home rule' cities in Colorado and Alabama). While the company does not currently support international VAT (Value Added Tax) directly, it has developed a robust network of International VAT partners to assist its customers with global expansion. Geographically, the company is headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, and maintains a remote-friendly work culture that allows them to hire top tax talent across the US. Their expansion strategy involves deepening integrations with more regional ERP systems and expanding the Z-Tax partner network to reach small and mid-sized businesses through their trusted accounting advisors. Recent growth metrics show a 6x revenue increase within a single year, highlighting the rapid adoption of their US-focused managed model.
In the last 12-18 months, Zamp has introduced several major feature enhancements to solidify its position as a market leader. A standout release is 'Z-Tax' (launched Sept 2024), which provides a dedicated portal and white-label tools for accounting partners. On the technology side, the company implemented an AI-powered filing automation system that speeds up the processing of multi-state returns while maintaining human attorney oversight for accuracy. Zamp also overhauled its product classification engine to move from SKU-based mapping to a more scalable 'Category-Driven Classification' process, which allows businesses with thousands of products to be categorized in minutes. Other recent additions include automated 'Notice Management' archival, allowing users to track every piece of state correspondence in one place, and expanded integrations with platforms like Shopware, Xero, and Amazon Historical Data sync tools.
Zamp fosters a culture described as 'founder-led' and 'radically transparent.' The company values are centered on taking extreme ownership of client problems, as evidenced by their high support ratings on G2. CEO Rohit Bhadange is a vocal proponent of 'content-led growth' and 'founder-led sales,' often sharing behind-the-scenes insights on LinkedIn about the challenges of scaling a fintech startup. This transparency extends to the workplace, where the team is encouraged to challenge existing tax industry norms. The environment is fast-paced and mission-driven, with a focus on 'reclaiming time' not just for customers but for employees through efficient, automated processes. The company prioritizes expertise, hiring qualified tax attorneys and CPAs to ensure that the human element of their 'managed' solution remains authoritative and trustworthy.
Zamp engages with its user and professional community through a strong educational focus. The company maintains an extensive 'Knowledge Base' and an 'Ultimate Guide to Sales Tax' that serves as a resource for the broader e-commerce ecosystem. CEO Rohit Bhadange is highly active on LinkedIn, where he has built a following of over 15,000 connections, sharing daily insights into tax law, leadership, and startup growth. Zamp frequently appears on industry podcasts like 'Category Visionaries' and 'Turning Pro' to discuss the evolution of the tax landscape. While they do not have a traditional public user forum, they host specialized webinars and 'demo days' for finance professionals. Their 'Z-Tax' partner program has created a community of hundreds of CPAs and accounting firms that collaborate with Zamp to improve tax compliance standards across the mid-market segment.
