Strata's Maverics platform is an Identity Orchestration solution that establishes a vendor-agnostic Identity Fabric—a crucial abstraction layer designed to unify and modernize enterprise Identity and Access Management (IAM) systems across complex hybrid and multi-cloud environments without requiring any changes to application code. This powerful layer decouples applications from their identity providers (IDPs), allowing organizations to seamlessly integrate and swap out legacy systems (like SiteMinder) with modern cloud IDPs (like Okta or Azure) to accelerate identity modernization and migration projects, while also facilitating M&A identity consolidation. The platform ensures robust access management by abstracting identity data and policies from disparate sources to enforce consistent access across all applications, and crucially, provides Identity Continuity by unifying Single Sign-On (SSO) and offering autonomous failover to keep mission-critical applications available during a primary IDP outage. Furthermore, Strata extends zero-trust governance by issuing short-lived, policy-driven credentials to secure autonomous AI Agents accessing cloud resources, providing essential security, observability, and auditability for agent-based workflows.

• Founding: Founded in 2019 in the United States by industry pioneers, including those who co-authored the SAML identity standard.
• Growth: Strata's rapid growth has been driven by solving a massive modernization bottleneck: the need to migrate applications to the cloud without rewriting them to work with modern identity systems (like Okta, Azure AD, etc.). They created the Identity Orchestration market category with their proprietary platform, Maverics.
• IDQL Standard: They co-created the IDQL (Identity Query Language) open standard for cloud identity policy orchestration.

• Total Funding: Strata has raised over $42 million in financing to date.
• Latest Funding: This includes a $26 million Series B round in January 2023, led by Telstra Ventures, with participation from Menlo Ventures and ForgePoint Capital.
• Model: Operates on a subscription model for its Identity Orchestration platform. Recurring revenue grew by more than 380% in the year prior to the Series B announcement, indicating strong market demand.

Strata's Maverics platform creates a unified Identity Fabric that allows incompatible identity systems to work together.

• Core Product: Maverics Identity Orchestration Platform.
• Key Features:
  • Application Modernization: Enables organizations to adopt multi-cloud identity systems without rewriting applications (which can save millions of dollars and years of effort).
  • Identity Abstraction: The platform sits between applications and identity providers, abstracting identity logic so applications don't need to know which identity system is being used.
  • Multi-Vendor Integration: Connects and controls various incompatible identity systems (e.g., legacy systems like RSA or Oracle with cloud systems like Okta or Azure AD) seamlessly.
  • Policy Orchestration: Enforces consistent access control policies across the entire Identity Fabric using IDQL.
  • User Experience: Maintains a consistent single sign-on (SSO) experience for the end-user, regardless of the underlying identity system.

Recent focus includes leveraging the Series B funding to scale the platform and expanding the capabilities of Identity Orchestration for next-generation use cases, such as identity control for AI agents.

• Culture: A team of identity industry pioneers committed to disrupting the traditional, proprietary Identity and Access Management (IAM) model. The culture emphasizes open standards (like SAML and IDQL) and technical innovation.
• Values: Simplicity, vendor-neutrality, accelerating cloud migration, and eliminating the long-term cost of identity vendor lock-in.

User Base: Large enterprises, particularly Fortune 500 companies, across diverse industries including financial services, retail, manufacturing, and government, that are undergoing cloud migration and dealing with identity sprawl across multiple identity systems.
