Open Automation Software (OAS) is a U.S.-based industrial automation and IIoT software company that provides a platform for connecting, transforming, visualizing, logging, and routing operational data across heterogeneous environments. Its core engine—often referred to as the Universal Data Connector (UDC)—links PLCs, databases, applications, and cloud services using native drivers and open standards such as OPC UA/DA and MQTT. The product suite spans data historization, alarm logging/notifications, web and desktop HMIs, and developer SDKs/APIs for .NET and REST. OAS emphasizes vendor neutrality (open databases and flexible cloud connectors) and distributed, edge‑ready networking for secure, reliable data movement across sites.

The company’s corporate profile indicates OAS was founded in 1993 and is headquartered in Lakewood, Colorado (USA). Public business directories list a single detected location for the firm.

Across its website, OAS references “30+ years at the forefront of HMI, SCADA, and IoT technology,” aligning with the 1993 founding and a long‑running presence in industrial automation. Over time, OAS has expanded its platform capabilities from UI and archiving to a broader IIoT stack: device and data connectors, historians, visualization, alarms, cloud integrations, and developer tooling.

Platform

• Universal Data Connector (UDC): Moves and transforms data among PLCs, databases, applications, and clouds; supports “from anywhere to anywhere” routing.
• Device & Data Connectors: Native drivers for Allen‑Bradley and Siemens PLCs and Modbus hardware; open‑standard support for OPC UA/DA, MQTT, and Sparkplug B.
• Data Historian: High‑speed, fault‑tolerant logging to open RDBMS/NoSQL stores (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Cassandra, InfluxDB, etc.) and CSV, with buffering and store‑and‑forward for zero‑loss collection.
• Visualisation: Web and desktop HMI/SCADA with trends, reports, and dashboards; UIEngine offers no‑code browser‑based screen building; Web HMI SDK adds declarative HTML/JS integration and framework compatibility (Angular/React/Vue).
• Alarms & Notifications: Real‑time alarming, logging, and notifications via email, SMS, voice; live and historical views in .NET/web.
• SDKs & APIs: .NET Data Connector for event‑driven, cross‑platform access (Windows/Linux/macOS/iOS/Android); REST API exposes tags as JSON for non‑.NET stacks and external services.
• Networking: Distributed Network Architecture (DNA) for edge computing, encrypted server‑to‑server links, one‑way routes, failover, and aggregation.
• Cloud Connectors: Native integrations for Azure IoT Hub/Event Hubs (AMQP with timestamp/quality), AWS IoT, Kafka, and MQTT broker/client roles.

Licensing & Deployment

• Unlimited Clients, Flex Tag Licensing, Windows/Linux/Docker deployments; one year maintenance included.
