Veradigm Practice Management

Veradigm provides a comprehensive training ecosystem designed to ensure staff proficiency and system optimization. This includes monthly, instructor-led 60-minute webinars covering critical topics like ICD-10 coding, CMS regulatory updates, and documentation best practices. For new implementations, Veradigm offers structured onboarding programs with dedicated project managers. Training resources are also available through the Veradigm Connect portal, which includes technical documentation, API guides, and sandbox environments for developers. Specialized training is often provided by Veradigm's partner network, such as EHR Concepts, which offers on-site and remote shadow-training, software configuration workshops, and 24/7 emergency support. Practices can also access an 'education and services' package as an optional subscription to ensure ongoing staff development.

Security is a foundational pillar of the Veradigm platform, which maintains a robust compliance environment based on leading industry standards. The company employs a standards-based security program that includes SOC 2 Type 2 reports, EHNAC accreditation, and ISO 9001:2015 certifications. Data is protected using advanced encryption standards both at rest and in transit, and the system includes granular authentication and access controls to meet ONC Certification Rules. Veradigm operates a dedicated Security Operations Center (SOC) that monitors networks and databases 24/7 for potential threats. Furthermore, the company employs a secure development lifecycle that incorporates risk-based threat modeling and automated code reviews to proactively identify vulnerabilities before software is released.

Veradigm maintains a regular release cadence, providing periodic updates that include feature enhancements, bug fixes, and mandatory regulatory compliance patches (such as Cures Act requirements). Updates are deployed with minimal disruption, especially for cloud-based users who receive improvements automatically. Major feature releases, such as the transition to the 2015 ONC Cures Update or the integration of new AI capabilities, are preceded by detailed release notes and client webinars to prepare staff. The company also provides frequent business and financial updates to its stakeholders, often hosting quarterly calls to discuss product roadmaps and strategic shifts. Users are encouraged to stay current with the latest version to maintain access to certified EHR and PM technology required for federal incentive programs.

Under Veradigm’s Healthcare Provider User Agreement, the healthcare provider remains the owner of the individually identifiable health information (PHI) they create and maintain. Veradigm acts as a 'Business Associate' under HIPAA, meaning it processes data solely on behalf of the provider and cannot use or disclose it in any way not permitted by the agreement or the law. For data portability, Veradigm supports standard export formats to facilitate the transfer of patient records and financial data if a practice decides to transition to another system. The company’s focus on 'Open Interoperability' means it utilizes industry-standard APIs (including FHIR R4) to ensure that data can be shared across different healthcare platforms, supporting the goal of a connected and disparate-free healthcare ecosystem.

The Veradigm platform is designed to scale from small independent physician practices to large, multi-state hospital networks and health systems. Its cloud-based architecture allows for the easy addition of new providers, office locations, and administrative staff without the need for significant on-site infrastructure upgrades. For larger organizations, the software offers sophisticated tools like automated work queues that can distribute thousands of claims and tasks across different teams based on specialty or region. The 'Veradigm Network' further supports scaling by providing the data depth and connectivity required for organizations moving into value-based care models, where managing large patient populations and complex risk-adjustment data becomes a critical operational requirement.

Veradigm typically operates under a Master Client Agreement (MCA) that outlines the licensing terms, payment obligations, and service levels. Subscription terms are usually set for one year and automatically renew unless a written notice of non-renewal is provided—often required 90 days prior to the term's end. Cancellation terms generally stipulate that if a client terminates for convenience before the end of the term, they remain responsible for the unpaid fees for the remainder of that term. The agreement also includes standard confidentiality, indemnification, and liability clauses. Payment terms are strictly enforced, and failure to provide timely financial statements or payments can lead to suspension of services. Renewal rates are based on the current market rates at the time of renewal, with a 30-day notice period for price changes.

Veradigm is deeply committed to regulatory compliance, ensuring its products meet all federal and state mandates. The Practice Management and EHR solutions are 2015 Edition ONC-ACB certified, meeting the 'Cures Update' criteria required for participating in quality programs like MIPS. The platform is fully HIPAA-compliant, providing the administrative, technical, and physical safeguards necessary to protect Protected Health Information (PHI). Additionally, Veradigm holds EHNAC accreditation for its EDI and clearinghouse services and complies with EPCS (Electronic Prescription of Controlled Substances) requirements. The company’s Quality Management System (QMS) maps to ISO 9001 standards, and they maintain SOC 2 Type 2 reports to validate their internal controls for security, availability, and confidentiality.
