Neo.Tax

Neo.Tax is an AI-driven tax automation platform designed to simplify and expedite the process of claiming R&D tax credits and managing software capitalization, particularly for startups and engineering-centric companies. By integrating with tools like GitHub, Jira, Asana, and Gusto, Neo.Tax passively collects data from existing workflows, eliminating the need for manual surveys and interviews. Its AI system processes this data to generate audit-ready documentation, ensuring compliance with IRS standards. The platform offers a transparent approach, providing fully traceable outputs that detail the allocation of time and resources, thereby reducing the risk of errors and enhancing the accuracy of tax filings. Users can expect significant time savings, with the ability to prepare R&D tax credit claims in as little as 30 minutes, potentially recouping up to $250,000 in credits. Neo.Tax also offers flexible payment options and integrates with accounting systems to streamline the entire tax preparation process.

Neo.Tax was founded in 2019 by a team comprising a former IRS agent, a Stanford PhD, and a former Intuit product manager. The company aims to simplify and automate tax processes for startups and small businesses. In 2023, Neo.Tax reported a revenue of $4.7 million, reflecting its growing adoption in the market.

As of 2025, Neo.Tax has raised a total of $13 million over two funding rounds. The Series A round in 2022 secured $10 million, led by Infinity Ventures, with participation from Google Ventures, Acrew Capital, Fin Venture Capital, Uncork Capital, Floodgate, Liquid 2 Ventures, and Lux Capital.
