What is Computer Telephony Integration Software?

Computer Telephony Integration (CTI) Software is a technology that enables interactions between a computer and a telephone system. It is primarily used in call centers to link a phone system to business software, allowing agents to have desktop-based interactions with customers. Agents can receive incoming calls, make outgoing calls, and complete other call-related tasks directly from a laptop, desktop, or mobile device, eliminating the need for a physical telephone device. CTI is known for offering advanced call management and handling features like call routing, Interactive Voice Response (IVR), enhanced reporting, screen pops, call monitoring, and automation in data entry.

Benefits of Computer Telephony Integration Software

1. Reduces Costs: Eliminates the need for physical phones, reducing cost and maintenance. It also helps agents reduce their average call handle time, making them more efficient and reducing company overheads.

2. Saves Time: Agents can drastically reduce the time spent searching customer data, toggling between screens, and post-call wrap-ups since CTI combines all the information in a unified dashboard.

3. Improves Customer Satisfaction: Equips agents with a complete customer record, allowing them to quickly authenticate a caller and serve each customer better, resolving their issues accurately.

4. Enhances Agent Productivity: Workflow automation and reduced time on repetitive tasks ensure improved employee productivity.

5. Increases Overall Call Center Performance: With tons of metrics to track and reports to generate, CTI allows for a deep understanding of various call center analytics and key performance indicators (KPIs), leading to better business decisions.

Typical Features of Computer Telephony Integration Software

1. Screen Pops: Automatically displays customer information on the agent’s screen during a call.

2. Call Routing: Directs incoming calls to the most appropriate agent or department based on predefined criteria.

3. Interactive Voice Response (IVR): Allows customers to self-serve through a pre-set menu of options.

4. Call Recording and Analytics: Records calls and provides analytics for performance review and improvement.

5. Integration with Business Software: Seamlessly integrates with CRM, helpdesk, and other business applications for streamlined operations.

Cost of Computer Telephony Integration Software

The cost of CTI software can vary widely based on features, scalability, and provider. Some solutions offer free versions with basic functionalities, while others may cost several thousand dollars per year for more comprehensive features. Monthly plans for premium features can start as low as $39, and support packages may cost around $80 per month. One-off setup costs can range from $789 for customer onboarding to $10,000 to $40,000 for third-party integration consultancy fees for complex setups.
