What is Auto Repair Software?

Auto repair software helps manage the day-to-day operations of an auto repair shop, including vehicle service, maintenance schedules, job estimates, billing and invoicing, inventory and part management, and technician mapping.

An auto repair shop owner or manager can use the software to streamline the vehicle servicing process by tracking the service workflow from assigning technicians to raising the invoice. The tool also manages the inventory of vehicle parts, including tasks such as tracking the availability, making new purchases, allocating budgets, and estimating the purchase cost.

An auto technician or mechanic can use auto repair shop software to check job alignments, parts requirements, related documents, and digital vehicle inspection. Further, the customers can use the tool to raise their concerns related to the vehicle service or upload pictures for technicians to correctly diagnose the problem.

What are the key features of Auto Repair Software?

• Billing and invoicing: Generate bills for customers including the details about the vehicle repair service such as parts utilized and job cost. Raise auto repair invoices to maintain the auto repair shop’s financial records. Utilize the invoices to create financial reports, highlighting the profits at the time of audits.
• Inventory management: Track and maintain inventory of parts, equipment, and other materials utilized in the servicing of vehicles. Analyze the utilization of inventory against the purchases to reduce costs to the business, increase profitability, and avoid any budget overruns.
• Quotes and estimation: Estimate the cost of a repair order requested by the customer and prepare job quotes. Upload the quotes along with the estimated job costs (including parts and material) for the customers to check and confirm the service.
• Work order management: Map technicians to the service requests based on their availability. Analyze the technician's skills against the job requirements to avoid any conflicts and enhance the efficiency of the service. Monitor the task alignment for every technician and assign new tasks accordingly to avoid burnout.
• Appointment scheduling: Schedule working hours for technicians, add multiple service bays, and print timetables. Estimate the number of hours utilized for each technician to complete the job and share the details with the customers in the job quote. Send alerts to customers about overdue and upcoming service appointments.
• Customer relationship management: Allow customers to raise service requests and track the task progress using a self-service platform. Address customer queries about the service, including details such as problem diagnosis, resolutions provided, hours utilized, or service charge. Manage customer directory and search by name, customer ID, or vehicle number.

What are the types of Auto Repair Software?

• Workshop management software: Workshop management software helps auto or car repair shop owners manage all aspects of their shop such as job cards, bills and invoices, inventory, and workflow. Besides the daily operations of the auto repair shop, the tool also lets you manage your staff attendance, payroll, and job alignment. These details help shop owners or managers ensure that all technicians are being utilized at full capacity and that the service requests are addressed on time. In addition, the tool helps identify any hiccups in the service process such as unavailability of parts or incorrect vehicle inspection.
• Better field staff management: The tool can be used by technicians in the field to check aligned tasks and access related documents such as vehicle pictures and job quotes. This process helps save the time utilized to travel to and from the automotive repair shop for updates on tasks. They can complete the ongoing repair task and directly move on to the next job location. In addition, the technicians can also raise additional service requirements such as parts or materials.
• Optimized inventory cost: The tool helps track the availability of vehicle parts, equipment, and other materials utilized for the vehicle service. This process lets you assess the demand and supply of inventory products and schedule new purchases accordingly. Limiting the purchase of parts or equipment that are less utilized in the vehicle service helps reduce costs to the auto repair business and avoid budget overruns.
