Amplitude Feature Experimentation implements several security measures to protect user data, focusing on both infrastructure and operational practices:
Data Encryption: Amplitude employs encryption in transit and at rest to protect sensitive customer data. This ensures that data is secure both while it is being transmitted between users and servers, and while stored in Amplitude’s.
.
Access Control: The platform uses role-based access control (RBAC), allowing organizations to limit data access based on the roles of individuals. This minimizes the risk of unauthorized access to sensitive data within the system.
Data Anonymization: To protect privacy, Amplitude anonymizes user data during analysis, ensuring that identifiable personal data is not exposed. This is particularly important for compliance with data protection laws like GDPR.
Audit Logs and Monitoring: Amplitude maintains audit logs that track user activities within the platform. This helps in monitoring access patterns and identifying any unusual behavior. The platform continuously monitors security to prevent any unauthorized access or data breaches.
.
Compliance Certifications: Amplitude meets several key compliance standards such as GDPR, CCPA, and SOC 2. These certifications validate the platform’s adherence to strict data protection regulations, ensuring that users' data is handled securely and in accordance with legal requirements.
Amplitude Feature Experimentation typically releases updates on a continuous basis, reflecting its commitment to evolving the platform to meet user needs. These updates are managed through the following processes:
Frequent, Incremental Updates: Amplitude releases feature updates and bug fixes regularly, often in the form of small, incremental updates. This agile release cycle ensures that new functionalities, improvements, and fixes are quickly delivered to users without long delays.
.
Release Notes and Communication: For each update, Amplitude publishes detailed release notes that inform users about new features, enhancements, and any changes. This allows customers to understand what has been updated and how it affects their usage.
Managed via Agile and Continuous Integration: The update process is supported by a continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipeline, which automates much of the testing, deployment, and delivery processes. This ensures that updates are smoothly integrated into the platform.
Amplitude Feature Experimentation maintains a clear stance on data ownership and portability, emphasizing transparency and user control. Here are the key aspects of its policy:
Data Ownership: Users retain ownership of their data when using Amplitude Feature Experimentation. The platform does not claim ownership of customer data; instead, businesses have full rights to the data they collect and manage within the platform.
Data Portability: Amplitude facilitates data portability by providing users with the ability to export their data. This ensures that businesses can retrieve and transfer their data whenever needed, for example, to integrate with other systems or analyze it outside the platform. This is part of the platform’s commitment to user autonomy and flexibility.
Compliance and Privacy: The platform adheres to strict data privacy regulations like GDPR, which require businesses to have control over the data they collect, including ensuring that users can request data exports and deletions as needed.
Amplitude Feature Experimentation, as detailed in the Master Service Agreement (MSA), includes provisions for contract renewal and cancellation:
Contract Term and Renewal: The contract's term is defined in the Order Form and typically spans a specified period. Renewal of the agreement is not automatic but can be negotiated when the term ends. There may be a renewal clause depending on the terms agreed upon initially, and new Order Forms might be created for each renewal.
Cancellation and Termination: Either party can terminate the contract under certain circumstances, such as a material breach of terms. The MSA outlines the procedure for termination, including the requirement for written notice. There may be provisions for early termination if agreed in the Order Form, which could involve cancellation fees or prorated charges for services used up to the termination date.
Amplitude's Feature Experimentation software is designed with strong compliance frameworks to meet privacy and data protection regulations. Some of the key compliance standards it adheres to include:
GDPR Compliance: Amplitude ensures its platform supports GDPR requirements. This includes features like user data deletion, an opt-out method for event logging, and a privacy-by-design approach embedded across the platform. They provide tools to help companies manage and respond to data subject rights requests, and also offer a Privacy Audit log for transparency.
EU-U.S. Privacy Shield: Amplitude is certified under the EU-U.S. and Swiss-U.S. Privacy Shield frameworks, which are designed to help companies meet data protection requirements when transferring personal data between the EU, Switzerland, and the U.S.
